hello, I am new to afterdawn so bear with me. ill try to make this clear as possibble. if this has already been discussed I apologize.

SOFTWARE USED:
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
Nero Burning Rom v.6

Hardware
Sony DRU-810A DVD+-DL (region code unlocked)

just yesterday I ran into 2 problems when trying to decrypt & reauthor.

Movie: Dark Water (very new release)

when I decrypted the movie and opened it in dvd shrink to shrink & burn (reauthor) the main movie file wasnt there. there IS a category that says main movie but the files are very small and indeed not the movie itself. can anyone tell me why this happened?

what I did to copy the movie was importing the movie from the file I had on my HD using Nero - "copy entire movie to dvd" then disabled the extra stuff for a lower compression (71%) it worked fine.

next problem

Movie : Lords Of Dogtown - Unleashed (extended edition)

when I went to decrypt it gives an error. unfortnately I cannot remember what the exact error message is. maybe an unreadable file.
just like dark water, when I tried using dvd shrink (reauthor) the main movie category was there but the files were very small and not the actual movie.
nero wont let me copy the movie from disc due to copyright. dvd shrink encounters the same error when try to use shrink alone to decrypt and shrink.

maybe its the dvd itself, I dunno. I havent watched it to see.

basically my question boils down to this, (since my problem is with 2 newer released dvds)is there something going on with newer dvds to hide the main movie file from being ripped? if so, what can I do to copy movies like this?

thanks for your help!

after doing some reading here I see that DVDFAB may solve the newer protected dvd problems.

anyone else have experience with DVDFAB getting through this?

Just use AnyDVD or DVD43 to remove the protection. No use in fiddling with software which isn't up to date.

I did Dark Water last night using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 without any problems. Might be an encryption issue. What encryption software did you use?

DVD43 might have some problems with new types of encryption. Use AnyDVD.

Yeah, lots of people had problems with Dark Water--as did I. I, too, use Shrink and Decryptor but I had to go to plan B and use CloneDVD--which worked.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie
