HI, I'm not sure if this is where this question should be posted but I couldn't find one that was on this topic. I'm using DVD Shrink to backup a movie. Soon after the backup process is started I get an error "Out of memory-the paging file is too small for this operation to complete". I have uninstalled some programs not being used, scanned for spyware and viruses, and have done a disc defragment. I have 256mb RAM. When going into my computer properties to check virtual memory this is what is there. "Custom" is checked with "initial" at 384 and "Max" at 768. This is the first time I have gotten this error. I have backed up my DVD's before with no problem. Any idea why I'm getting this error or how I can solve the problem? Thank You.

The "Out of memory-the paging file is too small for this operation to complete" error you're getting with using shrink has nothing to do with any hardware issues or how large/small your paging file is, it's caused by the newer copy protection placed on the disk. DVD shrink is no longer updated so it can't handle/crack the copy protection so it just spits out an error condition.

Try using a free ripper called DVDFab decrypter and is updated to keep-up with the new copy protection, it's a whole movie ripper so you'll still need shrink to reauthor the movie/backup if needed and shrink it to fit on a single layer disk (DVD-5).

You can get it here:
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
Here is a guide on using it if needed: http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvdfab_decrypter.php

Once DVDFab is done just use DVDshrink to open the files with (click on open files tab and browse to the VIDEO_TS created by DVDFab), reauthor the movie to get rid of any extras, have it create an ISO image you can burn using DVD decrypter.

If you're still not having any luck, there's always anydvd. You can use it with shrink or decrypter to help crack the encryption on the disk, it comes with a 21 day free trial before you buy. You can get it and read about it here:
