Office Depot 8X Media 100's,Short Stacked?

Just got back from Office Depot. taking advantage of the buy one get two free sale on CD's, while I was there I noticed 5 stacks of their 100 pack 8X DVD's....All were varying heigt inside the plastic spindle. There was an inch difference between the tallest one and the shortest one. All of the spindles were shrink wrapped and appeared to be "factory fresh". Figuring that all the disks themselves are the same thickness, it would appear to me that four of the spindles had less than the 100 indicated inside and they had placed 6 foam spacers on top of the spindle for cushioning. Looking at my own unopened spindle from home, it only has one foam spacer on top. Anyone else notice this when purchasing DVD Media, or has anyone actually counted a spindle to see if the quantity indicated on the outside matched the physical count on the inside? I'm gonna count this one bundle when I open it. And are all DVD's from the same manufacturer the same thickness? Just curious.

i have had discs of different thickness & my DVD+R are thicker than DVD-R, could just be that, i have never counted them though :-)

blivetMC....I have found that some of the 100 cake packs have a foam washer or doughnut on the bottom as well as the top to keep the discs from moving around..Yhat will give you about a 1/2 inch variance....
