I have just ordered some of the 2.4x dual layer verbatim media and I was wondering if there is a consensus as to which speed is most effecitve when burning this type of disk. I have read that you can burn it up to 6x.

The popular method around here is to stick to 2.4x when burning DL.
Anything faster can result in more errors and playback issues.

@socrates9,
It really depends of your Burner,the Brand & type media, up to date firmware for it, and the program you use. But, yes, the "safe" speed would be 2.4x. I have burned Verbatim DVD+R DL Media @4x with Great results. But I recommend you use the safe setting of 2.4x.

I failed to mention that I'm using a Pioneer DVR-110D burner and I upgraded the firmware back in December to version 1.37 and I use DVD Decrypter in Iso mode to read the disk and then burn as well.

socrates9,
I still recommend 2.4x. Speed is not always Best. Quality matters more. 2.4x may take a while, but the results will be better.

I have no problem burning at 2.4x...I want the best quality..speed isn't really that important. I'm asking because I read in one of the other threads where someone said they were getting better quality burns of single layer verbs at 4x rather than 2.4x speed. I'm just trying to ascertain whether the dual layers may also burn better at a higher speed than 2.4x. But if no one says different then I am sticking to 2.4x.

socrates9,
It depends on a lot of things, but from what you have said, 2.4x should work best for you.

How do the scans look for the Verb +R DLs @ 2.4x?
When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.
