Transferring footage from a DVD to hard drive

Hi does any1 know of a way to transfer footage from a DVD to hard drive. For instance i bought a DVD from someone of Ebay. The footage is a rare making of documentary of the film Blade Runner that was taped of the television and the disc has got css on it. The disc isnt authored to a good standard so what i wanted to do was to transfer the footage onto my hard drive and then add chapters and also add a menu.

You may rip the dvd (or parts of it) to harddisk with e.g. ImToo DVD Ripper into a popular video format (e.g. AVI, mpeg), then use e.g. Nero for creating chapters and menu.
