can someone give me a guide or tell me how to update my drive firmware please abd how does it help i been looking everywhere.

Well you can always google it...tis what I did, but yeah find out (if you don't already know) what model your burner is sony-panzer DVD-RW, or samsung-panther DVD-/+/RW/DL, ya know whatever, and surch for firmware updates...I had to update mine when I purchased some x16 DVD's...

Go to the web site of the manufacter of your drive and check for firmware upgrades for your drive you will need the model number of your drive download the update when you are ready upgrade make sure there are no discs in the drive then click on the upgrade file that is all tou have to do by doing this upgrade your drive will be able to use more media which your drive may at this time be not able to

First you need to find out what firmware version has already been installed for your burner, then check to see if an update is needed or not.
If you have nero, run the nero info tool and click on the DVD info tab to see what version firmware your burner has alread installed.
If you have DVDdecrypter, you can also use it to determine what version firmware your burner has alread installed and have it check for an update as well.
Click on the link provided and enter the model# of your burner and click search. If a update is available it will be displayed, just click on the latest version to download it, just run the file and follow the instructions for installation.

my firware is 0052 tnxs guys but it is so important to update this firmware or you can live with what you have

There is no law that says you have to update your firmware. Firmware is what introduces you driver to newer media and write speeds. If you are not having problems with your drive or burning to media then you do not have to update if you do not want too. However, if you do have difficulties burning it is advisable to update.

You could also check what firmware version by navigating to the Device manager (inside of control panel), right clicking on the appropriate drive, properties, details and then after the long ____________________ your firmware version should be there.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

If you use DVD Decrypter you can use it to locate new firware by clicking Tools>Drive>Check for firmware...
it will inform you of your current version before taking to you rpc1.org for your drive model.

hey guys I am trying to burn Doom and it encodes by just using Shrink but when it comes to burning I get this Burn Error Message

DMA is turned off for this device, enable DMA. Here's a guide:

If you drive's firmware is out of date and have changed the brand of media you use, this can cause burn failures, but it's only one possibility. If your using poor quality stuff, a firmware update may not help at all, just stick to the good stuff and you should be ok.
