i used dvd decryptor and had no problem i opened it up with shrink took out everything but english 5.1 and analyzed it then backed it up then burned with Nero you might have to dump any previous movies that you have already made back up files of first

I downloaded a free version (trail) of DVD region + CSS. Let it do its thing and did the normal Shrinks routine. Took two extra seconds then normal and have a perfect back up.

@kforeal
Make sure you are using the latest fab decrypter - 2.9.7.0.
Here's a link to alkohol's guide - it will work for legend of zorro also.

Another combo that works (not free but 21 day free trial) is anydvd and clonedvd. It's what I used for this one. You can download it here:http://slysoft.com

If you've ripped the files to your hard drive using dvdfab decrypter and shrink is having a problem with opening them, the try this:

get a little free application called FixVTS (download the 1.24 beta version here): http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/

Run FixVTS and make sure the two boxes are checked, leave the application open/running.

DVDfab should of created a VIDEO_TS folder containing all of the video files it ripped from the DVD. Open the VIDEO_TS folder, highlight all of the .VOB files in the folder and drag them all into the lower window of FixVTS. Click FullDVD and click yes to any prompts that appear. Sit back and wait for FixVTS to correct all the files, once done the progress bar will stop and FixVTS will display writing to video_ts.ifo (this indicates that the program is done).

NOTE: The program did not create new files, just fix the existing ones.

Close FixVTS and open the files using DVDshrink and use it as you normally would.

edit: the latest version of DVDFab is 2.9.7.2

When I did this movie, I used DVDFab, VOB blanker and shrink. I ran into the same problem with VTS 10 and 11. When you load the file, it automatically switches those 2 VTS to skip. Before you process, go to VTS 10 and 11 and and change it from skip to process. This should give you a file that will work with shrink. This is what I did an it worked.

I forgot to add, do this when you are running through VOB blanker, make sure you change 10 and 11 to process, not skip.

Who's to say "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 method" didn't work? To be honest with all of you, I've used this method since late October of 2005 and I've done more than 50 backups regardless if it's ARccOS or RipGuard, it's always a success without any issues whatsoever. Additionally, I have never seen any dvds or movies that VobBlanker can not handle regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS, once the movie or VIDEO_TS file is done ripped by DVDFAB Decrypter into the hard drive.

As a matter of fact, I backed up "LEGEND OF ZORRO" (US version, Region 1) and it worked 100% flawlessly. I used 2 methods; method (1) is my usual "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker", method (2) is "DVD Decrypter, PSL plugin + FixVTS and DVD Decrypter". Overall, both methods has proven to worked 100% flawlessly.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT HERE: make sure you don't run/have AnyDVD, DVD43 or any kind of cracking engines running in the background when you ripped the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter. The same thing apply to VobBlanker when you're "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker. Because if you had AnyDVD, DVD43 or any kind of cracking engines running while you're running VobBlanker to "process", then YOU ARE LIKELY to end up with some kind of errors, such as "unsynchronized VOB, file is too small (1 or 2 GB only), file is too big, some parts are missing, missing scenes or VTS, invalid data structure, etc." when you load/import into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2.

Just in case some of you needed to know (or needed some helps) that's all:

**NOTE: VobBlanker should take NO LONGER than 15 minutes to process. Once VobBlanker is done, just load/import your newly created VIDEO_TS file from VobBlanker into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 and transcode as your usual process. And now the rest if history.

I did just what you did and turned off clone dvd. Now I was able to burn the movie but it doesn't start from the beginning. It starts at the part where Zorro defuses the bottle bomb at the train. I deleted all the files and started over and got the same thing can you give me any ideal what I'm doing wrong. Thankyou

Alkohol; I too followed your very good [thanks] instructions using DVDFab, DVDFab processed the files and finished, I then used VobBlanker, clicked VOB10 and VOB11 to "process" instead of skip. The whole DVD file system processed in about 15 minutes, completed with no error messages.

My problem is when I try to use DVD Shrink, I go to the file folder that I processed the files with VOBblanker and select my folder, but when I do I get an error message with DVDShrink saying ...

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue"
"Invalid data in file "C\VOBcleaned\legend_of_zorro\VTS_01_0.VOB"

any comments, advice, help?

Thanks in advance

BTW

The files seem to be fine after using DVDFAb and VobBlanker, I can play the DVD files from my hard drive using Power DVD player, so I presume the encoding went just fine. I just cant use DVD Shrink so that I can make my back up disc.

just an update on my problem, I licked it and burned my backup.

Prior to fixing it I was bothered by the whole situation so I tried using the re authoring feature on DVD Shrink instead of full disc back up and noticed that the only titles DVD Shrink picked up were 10 and 11, those were the 2 VOBs that VobBlanker had set to skip, but I changed to process instead.

I also noticed that my DVDFab was not the latest version, so I updated that and started all over again, encoded the files to HDD, then followed Alkohols instructions again with my VobBlanker 2.0.1 and that worked. [PS; I've since updated VobBlanker to 2.1]

I think it was my version of DVDfab decrypter that was the problem, I sometimes watch or at least look at the log report from VobBlanker and I dont remember exactly what the changes were but the first run was different than my second try and the second try the encode process and blanker process took longer, but it did the trick, DVD Shrink then did it's job just fine
