@zouzi. people are going to tell you to check your DMA, tell you that if your computer is not powerful enough, that this that that. but i have one question for them, why is it only shrink having this problem? why is it that other programs are not affected by DMA problems? the truth is that unless you want to spend from hours(my case) to days(your case), you should give up on the GREAT shrink, it is over, at least for many. i use Nero recode2 or clonedvd2 which takes a 1/4 of the time that shrink takes(with my system). as long as i'm concern, bye bye my shrink.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

@elizerroj

You should stop by the Nero forums some time and look at all the DMA issues. The reason people still use DVD Shrink is because it is still a good proggy and best of all it's free. If you don't like it, don't use it...but don't shove a pay program down someones throat, who may not be able to afford it. And since you can't decrypt directly with Recode without the help of another program what is your next suggestion? AnyDVD, another pay program...we are here to help with the problems the users have not to dip into their pockets...

@LOCOENG.
1-DMA problems with recode2 are very, very, very rare.
2-shrink is no a good transcoder, it is a great transcoder, just way too slow. its quality ia second to none.
3-i'm not shoving pay programs, i'm just suggesting.
3- and most important, BE NICE.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Oh poo, I've been suggesting that these posters change their DMA...I must stop.

Let me know if you find anymore threads with people having problems with DMA...I'll go and help them.

Edit: You can read the forum rules here about padding your post count. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487

I think you'll find #12 useful.

@elizerroj

DMA being has nothing to do the program. Your DMA will switch to PIO when you've encountered 5 (I think) errors. DMA is a system thing, not a program thing. It has to do with trasfer mode that is used to trasfer data. If you have DMA off in any program, Recode, Clone, it will be hella slow. And I've used Recode once, it's not 1/4 the time of Shrink. It's not even 1/2 the time. And if you use Recode then you have to rip it w/ something like AnyDVD, which LOCOENG has pointed out will cost you.

And please feel free to comment on my post above.

Actually shrink isn't having this problem for this poster - from their post it seems TMPGEnc is.

its all relevant karen, but it seems some people like to throw they're weight around.TMPGEnc isnt a brilliant encoder, so if thats the issue maybe change to another one.But i would like to see the file stats so can you download avicodec , run your file through it and then post the results
