if your decryptor runs all the way without errors does that mean that the iso or file is 100% dvd quality from the source disc? Also, if I burned a dvd on a tdk and it burned with at a 70 quality, can i make an iso from it that is 100% the same quality as the original pressed dvdrom? I have switched to TYgo2's and am getting 95 burn scores now so
I want to reburn my backups---if I burn my vewb DL's at 2.7 should i scan them at 2X? because my 4x scans are aweful compared to the 2x

goducks,
If DVDD ripped it w/o errors then it should be OK and it is about 99.9% as good as the original.

If you take a compressed DVD it will not have the same quality as the original nor will a DVD that is copied w/ a score of 70 = 100

I scan at the speed I did the movie although an argument can be made to scan at at even as lower speed since you do not watch the movie at 2.4X or 4X but that would be subjective.

thanks Mike,

i kind of figured that even if you burn without compression that you loose some of the quality(shallower pits, pif's , etc.) how much pic quality do you loose when burning at no compression and get a 100 score
or perfect burn with TY's and a good burner? do the scratches matter in this situation?

thanks
for your help!

ps should I worry about a spike in pif's when burning DL's is it normal

goducks .
You 1st question is really subjective as you can never get an exact copy of the original pressed DVD but as for quality loss you would never notice via the naked eye. Scratches do matter as the info in that area is changed but you might not notice it if the scratch is shallow and it is in an area that has action.
As far as the spikes I do not relly worry about it as My TV is a 42" HD and yes I have had a spike but I did not detect it when viewing the DVD on the TV.
