Hi guys, I need help. I am downloading a movie that is in 8 parts. When I un rar they have a windows media player icon on them and will not play. I solved this problem by downloading vlc player. I canot get all the files in one folder so it can be viewed continusly. (Each new file that is unziped wants to replace the previous file). Is this possiable, or do you have to load each of 8 parts after the previous one has played. I don't mind reading if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks

The extracted file usually is a single video file.

Can you try to explain how you extract the file with as much detail as possible. There are at least two different ways of doing it that I can think of right now.

Ihave a rar file. It extracts to a folder, it has a windows media player icon and file ext. dvd scr.XviD-done.1 . Everything is fine here. Now the problem is when i extrect rar 2 to the same folder it will not add the file. A box comes up asking if you want to replace the file. At the moment I have to load 8 indivgual files one at a time after the previous has played. I want to load one file and be able to watch the movie.

If they are to end up as one file the only archieve file you need to extract is the first one. It should be the first one listed.

The command to unzip the first one will start a chain reaction for the rest.

I am not able to put the files in the same folder. They are all the same size and the computer reconizes each file as the same file and wants to replace it. I have a folder named temp I have the 1 file in that I created 7 file folders vid 2 --3--4--5--6--7--8 and put the unziped files in them inside of temp. I think they all need to be in the same file to play automaticly . There has got to be a simple solution or no one would do all this to watch a movie. ( I have 8 files. one two three tell me what to do to watch the movie. Thanks

Since the archieve seems messed up. You can merge the video files together. If they are in mpeg format you can use Tmpgenc. You can get a free version for what you need.

If it's in another format, I'm not sure what program you can use to merge video files.

Lets put this one to bed. I used virtual dub to put the files together. All the info was in the guides section. I takes several hours of reading to find what you need to know but if you have the time it appeares to be there. Thanks to the people that responded
