Your drive is corrupt. You have to uninstall it and reboot the PC.

Follow this guide

I uninstalled my primary driver and when I restarted my computer an error pops up saying: "Driver is not intended for this platform". Ultimately it was unable to reinstall. I've had this problem for a long time now. A couple weeks ago I unplugged my cables and reconnected them and then they reinstalled, but I know they are still securely plugged in considering I just did it. What could be the problem?.

From looking at your log it seems the atapi.sys driver is corrupt.
From reading what you describe it sounds like it may be locked and can not roll back to proper version. I know 2 apps that will lock it and keep windows from rolling it back to good version. The 2 I know of are alkohol 120% and deamon tools. There is most likely others as well. If you have one or both those on the system remove them and then try again to get the driver to rollback. After it is back in working order you can reinstall 120% or dt or whatever app has it locked if you want.

If doing that still doesnt let the driver reinstall. You can run windows system file checker utility. To do this just go start / run, then type in
sfc /scannow
You will then be asked to insert your windows disk and it should repair any system files such as atapi.sys and any other system files it finds that needs repaired.

Could I do a system file checker before I uninstall alkohol or should I try to uninstall it first?

I uninstalled my Alkohol and tried to roll my driver back and it wouldn't do it. I then tried the system checker and I think I got it to work. I did a couple successful burns with my 1633, but how do I know that it is indeed fixed properly? Anyways, thanks for the help. This is the first time I was able to do a successful burn in months!

I hope you find that useful.

Try to unhook your burner, unplug the cables and then hook it back.

What other sofrware do you have installed that might cause you problems?

Also, what media did you use?

Its not the burner driver that is corrupt, its the system ASPI files
Quote:
File 'Drivers\atapi.sys': Ver=?.?.?.?, size=95360 bytes, created 04/08/2004 05:59:42 (Adapter driver for rec)
Now this can be easy or hard. Kinda like a roll of the dice.. Is it your lucky day?? If so, all you have to do is install a new system aspi and you will be fine..
However, it can get very difficult and you get to where you have to force aspi to take. Follow the AD guide, then try the ways they list. If it doesnt work, ill link you to force aspi.
Here is the Guide:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/aspisetup.cfm
and here is the aspi:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm
use the aspi checker first.
It will probably report your system aspi is corrupt or missing..
If that method doesn't work,
use force aspi.
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm
problem with that method is it uses an older version of aspi, but an older working version is better than any corrupt version.
Good luck. Post back if you have problems..
I also have links to adaptecs home site on my homepage. Just click on my name, and it will take you there. Its under the Links part.
Nero can show you your aspi condition with Info Tools,
You should see something like this on your info tool:

i went into Nero info tool and it says:

System ASPI

WNASPI32.DLL 4.71 (0002)
ASPI32.DLL 4.71 (0002)
WINASPI.DLL 4.6 (1021)
WOWPOST.EXE 4,6 (1021)

and it says in green at the bottom ASPI is working and installed properly. so to my knowledge i will have to force aspi?

Thats weird, according to the log you posted, you should have seen RED with info tools. Try the aspi checker program and see what it says.

WINASPI.DLL 4.6 (1021)
ASPI32.SYS 4.712 (0)
WOWPOST.EXE 4.60 (1021)

but underneath is where its interesting

ASPI is not properly installed. one or more components have been replaced with older versions of the software

Would you in any instance make the suggestion to just get rid of the Aspi? Accorrding to Nero, I have no sys Aspi installed, and I burn just fine. Would you suggest to try and just get rid of it, like a bad tooth. It buggs the hell out of you when is there, and you don't really miss it at all when is gone.

You missed a serial number. its right below this line:

and the main thing i see is you have INCD installed and it has to go.

remove it with this:
http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html
and you could be having problems with that version of nero as both the lastest versions of 6 & 7 have major bugs being reported. Try removing INCD first. And if you still have problems try to post the nero history log. It reports more information.
Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

Use one of those logs. Not the recode log you posted.
Now on to the one who opened this thread in the first place, and still has problems.

ASPI is not properly installed. one or more components have been replaced with older versions of the software
Thats what happens when a corrupt ASPI is replaced with a good one, and some of the old is still there.
Did you use the force aspi? i think one of the programs in that download is killaspi or something like that. Run it first. It should remove all aspi. Reboot. After reboot, check aspi again and install the version supplied in force aspi, or run the program and let it do this.

Here is force aspi 1.8 which seems to be an updated version from the one AD has:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/ForceASPI.shtml

@cyprusrom
If you are only using Nero, and its working fine thats probably because nero is using its own ASPI for what it needs. It doesn't need a system aspi at all that way. Now if your system ASPI is corrupt like BreadC, then just using Nero would not work, and dont ask me why it works with no aspi yet fails with corrupt aspi. Wrong instructions being given?? anyway in your case with everything going fine i would do nothing to my missing aspi files. Leave them out if you dont have problems. If it aint broke, dont fix it :)

weewh, with that folks MaxBurn is gonna have to crash and burn..
Later..

media i am using is: Mr.DVD DVD+R. the number in the middle as far as i can read is: IFPI GZ07

I used the kill aspi. rebooted my pc then forced aspi 1.7 which gave me version 4.60

i used the ASPI Installation Verification and it says "ASPI is properly installed and is fully operational. A total of 5 host adapters have been detected". and the color to the left was green.

so i tried another burn and this was the result. it got upto 94% completion then i got the write error!!!! this is starting to annoy me now :( i have aspi installed properly and everything but it still wont burn. i mean this dvd drive is doing more hassel because i aint even wrote to 1 dvd yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and ive gone through like a pack of 20 :( i do not understand why but i need this fixed soon because its gonna go flying out the window. :(

It still doesn't look like that got fixed. Why don't you kill Aspi and leave it like that. I have no problem burning withou it installed. You can give it a try.

Second, I never heard of Mr. DVD( sounds pretty obscure to me). Use Nero CD-DVD Speed to tell you what code they are, or DVD Decrypter. For sure your drive does not like it. get some good media. I s on sale at Office max, verbatim 50 pk for 14$ and at Best Buy Sony for the same price.

I think you got this because it might have been a little fast. I usualy go x6 or x4. X4 is safer.Yes, good media is CRUCIAL for a succesful burn.

here is something you might want to look into:

http://erpman1.tripod.com/current/atapi-xp.html

But if is not broken, leave it!

As for those MR. DVD you had, I asked around and all i get is: Booooo!
