TDK DVD+R Media=CMC?!?!?

Hi, I just got some TDK 4x media from SuperMediaStore.com but when they arived I went to burn a DVD but in DVD Identifer they show up as CMC Mag for Manufacuer and for Media Id they are F01 which I could find no where what it is! Please help me was I ripped off?

just outta curiousity, WHO advised you to get TDK? if you come to the media forums here, VERY few people would suggest you order TDK for the same reason that you discovered the HARD WAY...MANY of TDK's DVD+R format are outsourced to CMC MAG...
not only that, i personally have NEVER recommended TDK in any rated speed nor format to anyone here as i will not help anyone KNOWINGLY going out and buying TDK media~ :)
how much did you pay for them? ALSO, can you still get a refund? i definitely WOULD if you can do so from supermediastore.com...and the be completely brutally honest with you, YES you were ripped off, not so much because you got CMC MAG under the TDK label, but moreso that someone suggested you to get TDKs period~
good luck on getting a refund if at all possible..i hope you can get one.

No one advised me I just saw them as a good media brand via DigitalFAQS.com oh well I'll get some TY's help they give me a refund and that TY's don't also get taking over by the invasion of CMC MAGNETICS!!

ordering from supermediastore.com, you will get GENUINE TYs...and btw, digitalfaq is used as a "guideline"..their recommendations should be taken with a grain of salt~ :P
for them to have TDK as "1st tier" is laughable...and their website is NOT up to date with all the recent manufacturers and such...
but, yah, best of luck in getting a refund, i hope it all goes thru well~ i would def. recommend the TYs on your next purchase~

WOW! I must have gotten lucky. I bought some TDKs +R,8X, don't remember where I bought them, But they come up as Taiyo Yuden, YUDEN000 T02. So far they work great!

i believe i responded to another post of yours, but yes, you did in fact get "lucky"...while it is there (the possibility of TYs with TDK branded media), it's not always a "for sure thing 100%" :)
i hope your luck continues if you continue to purchase TDK, happy hunting...

BaconX- About the only thing I could add to the words of our illustrious Doc ! are that I don't think you have to worry about Taiyo Yuden being "taken over by CMC " as it were because while Tdk and many other major brands outsource their media manufacturing to an OEM Like CMC .Taiyo Yuden is a OEM media manufacturer themselves so barring something like a hostile takeover it ain't gonna happen ! and given CMC 's reputation as the Crap Media Company ! I think taiyo yueden would probably rather go belly up rather than have their stellar reputation sullied ny something like CMC! You can find Taiyo yuden either online at Supermediastore.com - Meritline.com - Rima .com or sometimes in branded media under some of the following brands ! fUJI MEDIA ( Look for the Made in japan ones ) Sony media ( again the Made in Japan ones ( the Sony's atleast the 8x media may code out as Sony with dvd Identifier But I have contacted sony and they have verified that thses are actually taiyo yudens) I'm sure their are probably Taiyo yudens available under other brands as well but these are they ones that I know . The Taiyo yudens you get online will be generic looking media = As opposed to having Tdk , sony or any other brand name stamped up on them but they are excellent media judging from personal experience & a general conscensus of afterdawn.com members ! and the prices are rather reasonable right now especially the 4x media but in the end you pays your money & takes your chances ! Though if you can return the tdk's & get taiyo yudens instaed I think you'll be well pleased with them ! Good Luck my friend & happy burning ! Ciao!

Well I got some disc a while ago and they show up as SONY in media code is that a good sign?

those Sony coded media are very decent discs, i wouldn't worry too much with those, but if you want THE BEST (hehe) then you can't go far wrong w/ GENUINE Taiyo Yudens :)

Ok I have a 25 pack of the SONY media code DVD's so they should be fine and not hurt my laser like evil CMC Mag. until I buy some TY's right?

Personally, i would rate the Sony coded discs like an "A-/B+", so, bottom of 1st class or VERY high up on the 2nd class ranking~ :)
naturally i'm biased in my own "ranking" of Sony's own coded media, but you asked, so i gave you an honest opinion~ :)
they are decent discs, but Taiyo Yudens perform and scan better FOR ME on my setup...good luck
