Nero "KEY_NO_SENSE" error

Hi,
I'm having a Sony DRU 720 UL external burner and I'm unable to burn CDs or DVDs due to Nero "Disc Changed" error. It seems that the burner resets automatically before the completion of burning. Before giving the error it hangs for sometime. Before I get this log I aborted Nero as I was hanging for few minutes.

You have installed INCD. That conflict with Nero Burning softs. Use Nero Ceaning Tool to uninstall it

You have 1 gig of memory, but most of it is used up. That is a good indication you had lots of programs open. One or more of them could be causing conflicts.. Close down everything not needed for burning, and don't multi-task, just in case you were..

not the best media out there. Might be ok for cds, but i wouldnt use it on DVDs.

That is probably being caused by this:

and even if it isn't the cause, it needs to go. You have INCD packet writing software installed and you need to remove it with nero's INCD Zapper as it conflicts with Nero..

The drive letter being reported is not being seen as drive F: on your external and Nero tried to write to drive E: and found an unknown partition type..
The drive letter does not specify a valid device.. thats what the log was saying..
Maybe you need to un-install and reinstall the drivers for that burner so that it gets a valid drive letter. A reboot after un-install should find the correct driver for it, and assign a valid drive letter at the same time.

I uninstalled Nero and installed it without INCD. I got a different message and please see the log file below.

I didnt think so Helpless7 but the similar name threw me off.
Looking at that last log, the only thing i can see that could be changed is the media.

To me this looks like nero is not seeing the drive, but i may be wrong.

You are going to have to fix that, or you will never get a good burn from that drive.
Try unintstalling the drive in windows control panel>system>hardware>device manager, and go to DVD/CD Rom drives, right click on the sony external if it is there, and do an un-install. Then turn computer off, disconnect external burner from computer. Power computer back up with device disconnected. Reconnect burner to computer once computer is completely booted up and windows should see the burner, and assign a proper drive letter to it along with device drivers. You may need the disc that came with the drive, but most of the time that is just extra stuff, not needed for burning. See if that works. And post back if it doesnt.

Hi Maxburn,
I assigned a new driver letter. Still the problem is same. I can notice it hangs around 30 minutes and gives the error message.
Now I fed up with this burner and Nero.
Maxburn and others....I really appreciate your support. I believe that I'll be able to find a solution for this issue with the support of all of you.

Currently I have Nero Version: 6.6.1.4. According to your comment you sent me the url for Nero-6.6.0.18.exe. I think this is an older version than I have currently.

I installed the version and it was failed to burn a DVD+RW. But I was able to burn a CD-RW successfully. In both occasions I used Sony brand (DVD+RW and CD-RW).
Please see the log files for both occasions and tell me whats wrong.

Your burner doesn't like the discs you are using, try some verbatim...I think 50 packs are on sale at OfficeMax this week for $15. As for the 6.6.0.18 version of Nero, it is older than what you were using but it is also a working version. Nero has yet to get all the wrinkles ironed out of 6.6.1.4.

That statement has got me to wondering about your system ASPI layer.
If it is corrupted, that will cause a falied burn. If it is missing, Nero can supply its own for burning, but a corrupt ASPI will not work. Use nero info tools can click on the ASPI tab. If everything is fine, it will come up green.
Check that and post back what you find.
In the mean time here is what AD says about ASPI in their mini-guide.

My friends PC had a corrupt ASPI and it let him burn DVDs but not CDs. Installed a new aspi, and it fixed it for him. If you get a corrupt aspi, i will link you to the program that removes the old aspi and installs a new one. It can get difficult if the aspi doesnt want to take, but many times the fix is easy.
If aspi is ok, then as LocoEng said, you need to try some better discs. The DVD burn log was failing due to the media according to the log.
Both of the nero updates for 6 and 7 have bugs in them. Major ones. That is why we are suggesting going back one version. 6.6.0.18 was the last stable 6x nero version. And it works for ppl where the newer one doesnt in many cases.

Hi Maxburn and LOCOENG,
I checked ASPI and it is exactly same as the screenshot shown by you.
After installing Nero-6.6.0.18 I was able to burn couple of DVDs but sometimes the burner hangs without any message for DVD+R media. Currently I'm using Verbatim and the following are the logs for two occations where the burner hung.
Maxburn and LOCOENG, I was able to made a good progress after having your valuable support/recommendations. I was able to burn couple of DVDs successfully. Please assist me to resolve this issue completely.
Please let me know if you find anything from these logs.

Im rapidly running out of ideas here. There are only a couple of things i see that might be a problem.

You have enough free memory, but this shows that you had many programs open when you were burning. Try to close down most of them. Not so much as to free up memory, but one of those open programs may be interfering with Nero. Something like a virus checker or firewall could be interfering.

Try dropping the burns down to 4x. Both of those last logs showed 8x burns.
I really thought we would find something wrong with ASPI, but thats not it. The Verbs are very good media.

its still getting that device not available, but that was after you aborted, so that might be a normal error in that case.
All i can think of is kill off any programs not needed for burning, and reduce your burn speed to 4x. If those things dont work, then i really dont know what to tell you. Maybe LocoEng has better eyesight than me today.
