Still think our coach is suspect. He's great recruiter tho. We won a lot of close games this year in which teams beat themselves.

Well we're supposed to stay on topic - though sometimes it strays not normally to waaaay off though so back on topic.
@dvdnuts
Have you exchanged yours yet? When you try it again let us know how it turns out!
One last ditch attempt b/4 exchanging it would be to rip in iso mode w/decrypter. Also change this setting - go to tools>settings>i/o tab and check ignore read errors. You can then open the iso file in shrink - file>open disc image.

It's an awesome movie - I liked the end!!

@ binkie

thanks...i normally rip in file mode (by default), so I guess with shrink, its the corresponding "open file"

and with iso mode, its will be "open disc image"

right ?

whats the difference between the 2 anyway ?

BTW, i changed to "ignore read error"

@dvdnuts
I normally rip in file mode also with decrypter but if I get a hard to do disc like this and file mode doesn't work I try iso mode. ISO makes an image of the disc - you won't have files a video_ts & audio_ts folder - just one 1.
Yes the option in shrink would be open disc image.
Hopefully this will work for you and you won't have to exchange it!

No harm no foul, but we don't need to know how you acquire you movies. Everyone here know's what their options are for obtaining backups.

If your using dvdfab decrypter to rip 1st - it will handle both saw 1 and The Man. Saw 1 has nothing special - can't remember about the man (I used AnyDVD & clonedvd).
What's not cooperating for you? Any error messages? Using the latest version 2.9.7.2? Also try cleaning off these discs.

The backup copy I watched I did w/ shrink by it's lonesome - decrypter to burn. Playback was fine. Make sure you are using quality media also!

after the man and saw 1 was decrypted to HDD shrink gives me this: DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. invalid data in file "c:\theman\DVD\video_ts\video_ts.vob".

I got Saw to burn finally by creating an ISO image the telling shrink to open the image. Have not tried the man again yet, but im sure it will work too.

I ripped and backed up SAW II flawlessly, using my "VobBlanker + DVDFAB Decrypter method". Tested my backup, it worked and played 100%. No black screens, no glithces, no chapters jumping, no misery. No need to "blank out" anything if you don't know how to (i.e. fbi warnings, fake/dummy cells, etc.), just set "INPUT", "OUTPUT" and click PROCESS. That's it... easy as sippin' on some Courvasiour.

@whom may concern,

Do you need helps? SAW, SAW 2, Bambi 2, LEGEND OF ZORRO, SERENITY, STEALTH, ZATHURA, RENT, DOMINO, PROOF, etc.

Do you have "out of memory, uncompresseable, unshrinkable/file is too big, invalid data structure, etc."? "Out of memory" is another crap from RipGuard, "uncompressable" is the latest junk from ARccOS, and "invalid data structure" is some useless craps, dummy cells, fake encrypted sectors, etc. To solve the problem, just follow the 2 following guides and that should take care of all your problems.

Here's 2 FREE methods for Newbies only or those that needed and I GUARANTEE that you'll be able to successfully rip and backup any dvds/movies if done right. I've primarily used these 2 methods for ripping and backing up movies and I've never experienced any issues whatsoever.

No AnyDVD, no DVD43, no DVDIdle Pro, no DVD Region+CSS Free, no misery, no black screens, no glitches, no dummy cells, no chapters jumping, etc.

<><> tools needed; all tools are FREE (excluding Nero Recode 2) <><>
<> DVDFAB Decrypter
<> VobBlanker
<> DVD Decrypter
<> PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS
<> DVD Shrink
<> Nero Recode 2 (not necessary needed, if you're going the FREE route)

<><> method 1 **use Alkohol's DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker 2.1.0.0** <><>

<1> rip the movie with the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter
<2> PROCESS your VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker (only 5 - 10 minutes), if you have 2 hard drives, set your INPUT to C: and OUTPUT to D: and PROCESS, then VobBlanker should take NO LONGER THAN 5 minutes.
<3> import/load your newly created VIDEO_TS file that VobBlanker created into DVD Shrink (or Nero Recode 2, your choice) and transcode as normal
<4> burn your final VIDEO_TS or ISO image file at your desire burning engines, such as Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, etc.

<><> method 2 **DVD Decrypter + PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS** <><>

<1> rip the movie with PgcEdit through DVD Decrypter
<2> use PSL plugins to save the PSL file and import into DVD Decrypter
<3> process craps, junks with FixVTS via the Wizard
<4> transcode the VIDEO_TS file with DVD Shrink (or Nero Recode 2, your choice) as normal
<5> burn your final VIDEO_TS or ISO image at your desire burning engines, such as Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, etc.

For more info on how to use VobBlanker http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/234 -- and how to use PgcEdit + PSL plugin + FixVTS http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/271
Or check on those 2 bold links under my sig.

The choice is yours... If you decided to go with these 2 FREE route, then I strongly recommend you to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or any other cracking engines that's running in the background.

Best of lucks to all and happy burning!!! Remember, all tools are FREE, except Nero.
