Hello: I have a movie that is 2hrs and 1 min. long and am getting a kick back that there is not enough space on this disc - insert a disc that has a greater capacity. Since "Dvd Shrink" could not shrink this movie " Unfaithful" enough, is there a way that I can shrink it to make it fit on the standard disc? I took out all of the "Menu" etc. so there is no more to delete except the "movie" itself.. Any suggestions? Thanks Ronnies

try going into the compression settings and change "automatic" to "custom ratio" for the movie; then bring the guage down to 4463. This should allow you to burn with all the menus and special features.

Hello Fargen: I went into "Dvd Shrink" and then to "compression settings" and then to "Custom Settings". I then attempted to change from "automatic" which was a "percentage" of 93.4 to "4463"? How do you get from a percentage to a number like "4463"? Can I up the Compression? Any suggestions.. ronnies

Run shrink and goto: edit--preferences, in the preferences tab choose "custom" from the dropdown menu and enter a value of 4300 instead of 4463.

Johnl123: Did what you said and got an error message stating that the "handle is invalid". I already had it pass the encode when in "automatic" mode? Any suggestions ronnies

The setting must be changed before the rip/transcode process begins, make the change, close shrink, then run it. Is shrink now outputing a file size of 4300mb?

Are you getting this message while burning with Nero?

That is a DVD Shrink error code.
Quote:
Error code ver 3.2 in open disc mode:

Programming error - exception occurred

Error code ver 3.2 in open file mode:

Main Solution 2:

This is the best solution.

Use DVD Decrypter. Make sure you use the latest version 3.5.4.0. After the files are placed on your hard disk - just open up the files with DVD Shrink and forget about the other solutions in this thread.

Solution Easy:

First you have to decide if you want to retain the menues on the DVD. If you don't want them just enter re-author mode in DVD Shrink and do a movie-only backup.

If you want to retain the menues on the DVD you have to open up the files in DVD Shrink and apply "No compression" or "Still Image" to the "unreferenced materia".
