I have two DVD recorders, an Ilo DVDR04 and a Cyberhome CH-DVR-1500. Both of these models have a "feature" such that they will stop recording if the input signal drops out for one second or more. I realize that the machines were probably designed to do this to conserve blank media space. However, this can be very inconvenient when I am trying to copy old homemade VHS tapes with small gaps between the programs. Old VCR's used to record over the last minute of the previous program so I would always allow gaps between programs. I would like to be able to copy the contents of the entire tape in one shot, ideally when I am sleeping or not around. And when I am making new recordings of TV shows, I do not want to worry about a momentary loss of signal such as a cable outage to stop my recordings that I have programmed.

Does anyone know of a modification that can be done on either of these models to allow recording to continue until the disk is full no matter signal may or may not be present? Or is there another model of a DVD recorder that will do this? I want a DVD recorder that will make a best effort to do as much of the recording as it can, just like a VCR. Thanks.
