Im sorry if this question has been posted/answered already but i have been searching for an hour on this site and couldn't find one.

Ok, so i use dvd decrypter and shrink, i always use decrypter to burn the iso. I have burnt tons of successful dvds using the same way i do everytime. But recently, past week or so, everytime i rip the dvd, make the iso, encode, then burn it all works as a success. So dvd decrypter says burning completed success then i click ok, and all of a sudden this error box pops up (im sorry i don't have the exact message) but the first thing it says is I/O error. I believe it says it is something wrong with my drive. So i look at the back of the dvd, it did burn onto the disc, but when i put it in my player, nothing happens ever. Just keeps loading until disc error. I have tested my burner though burning dvds/cds/dvds as data, just to see if my burner might have went bad. I can't figure this problem out. Please help
thank you.

Will the burner play other DVDs that you've backed up it before this started to happen (ie. DVDs that is successfully backed up and played well after)?

do you have another program that you can burn with (nero, alcohol?).
what brand of media discs are you using?
What speed do you burn at?
is this happening with a new pack of disc?
or have you updated the firmware lately?

sorry for all the questions lol
also do you have the error log that you can post?

i had a pack of discs that would get to the end of the burn & come up error, this was happening when i used nero, i tried birning the same discs with decrypter & they were all perfect. it seems that nero didn't like that one pack of discs as every other disc i had worked perfect with nero.

try a different program / media & see if this makes any difference

He is using decrypter to burn his ISO images with not Nero.
My suggestion is an attempt to determine whether the problem lies with the drive or the media. He also doesn't state that there were any changes in media used or changes in write speed, although the firmware update isn't a bad idea.

Would be easier if you posted the exact error message.

@john123
i know he is burning with decrypter & recommend he try the same media with a different program, as i have had media burn perfect with 1 program but always get errors with another

i know he doesnt state any changes in media or burn speed so this is what i was trying to determine. start with the media & then look at the software & burner.

we need more info to help so was trying to get as much info as possible

Yeah it happens to me when i am burning games. It probably says I/O error then givees a bunch of stuff after it and then says invalid sectors and gives you the sectors. Solution is what I do. I close out of Decrypter, turn off my computer, start it back up, reopen decrypter, get another DVD-R or DVD+-R DL and bur, and the problem doesn't happen again.

gjl2002 - I do have different media to burn with, i have tried Nero with the iso, but with Nero, the burn process completes with no error message, but the same thing happens with the disc, i put it in the player and just loads until it says disc error. The brand of discs i am using are Memorex DVD+R 16x. I have burnt at every single different speed from 1x, 2x, 2.4x. I have tried lots and lots of different discs (if im at a friends house and they have a stack of a different brand i try them). The only thing that i haven't done that you asked was update the firmware, and if there is firmware for DVD Decrypter i don't know where to get it, but i will look.

The thing about this error i get is that the burn process always completes fully, nothing until it is past 100 percent and says success and i look at the disc and i can see that it burned onto the disc.

For johnl123, yes, the burner will play all the other movies that i have completed successfully. They play well after. Its just a recent problem.

It actually started to first happen around christmas time, but i thought i just had bad discs so i bought some more expensive memorex ones and the problem stopped, and i thought i was alright and now it has started again.

Sorry i don't have an error log, i haven't tried a disc in a few days, if there is somewhere within DVD Decrypter that saves the logs i can pull it up, but don't know how.

Thank you for all the help, i appreciate it.

Just go into Decrypter to the tools tab, then drive and capabilities you will be able to find out about your drive and there is even a tab to find out if there is an update available for your drive.

Why not try this and see if you still get errors. Download ImgBurn which is the burning part of DVD Decrypter only updated. It is by LUK! who was the developer of Decrypter. You can get it here

http://www.imgburn.com

Try burning your file with this program at 4x.

Is this happening to every movie or just this particular file. What movies are you having difficulties with, what is the name of this movie? Just want to know if this is a protection thing going on with the file.

no no, it is any movie, right now i am just backing up my seasons 1 - 3 of that 70s show (well trying, but have ruined like 15 discs now)

but i have had this problem for like 2 or 3 weeks now and i have tried numerous different movies.

but remember, the error message i am getting pops up AFTER the burn process completes

like decrypter says dvd successfully burned

memorex discs are not a recomended media brand try some from the recomended media brands found here -

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/240341

verbatims are not on that list but are also very good.

also what brands did your friend have that you tried?
personally i think this is a media problem. & if not a media problem at least you can eliminate it if you use a quality media.
(i did have one pack of sonys that would ALWAYS give an error at the end of the burn. they were bad discs)

also try burning with Nero & get an error log so as we can se what the log says.

gjl2002

See, i am pretty sure that it is in fact a media problem, over christmas break i was using memores dvd+rs but they were a max of 4x, and all of the discs that i backed up with those blanks worked. But then i ran out of those, went to best buy to get the same kind, came home, tried to burn and i got one of those errors, so i looked on the cd, noticed that these discs maxed at 16x, so i changed the write speed for one of the new discs and it worked, but only for one or two and now none of them will work.

Other types of media that i have used were dynex, JVC, um... that's about all i can remember

and as for the error log...when i do use Nero to burn the iso, i do not get an error message, but the same thing happens when i put the disc into the dvd player, nothing until disc error.

This is a problem i have no idea on how to fix, i have updated all the firmware for my dvd burner now also.

But i still can make data dvds and anything else, just this iso it is not cooperating with.

Do you think if my drive was bad, that i would still be able to use it with all the other burn functions? because everything else works.

Maybe i should just uninstall and reinstall DVD Decrypter, maybe that will work

I appreciate all the help i am getting from you guys though.
thanks.

@24isadrug
uninstalling DVDdecrypter and reinstalling it shouldn't change anything if you're getting the same error when using ImgBurn since they're basically the same burning engines.

I looked at the log you posted and noticed this:
********************************************************************
Unable to Recover TOC
********************************************************************

Poor quality media often pixelates at the end. The solution is to buy better media or reduce the amount recorded on the DVD (to say 4300Mb).

Either your media is pretty bad or it's possible that you're burning too close to the outer edge of the disk and these new disks can't tolerate it. Try this, have DVDshrink create a smaller output file of 4300MB. Run shrink and goto: edit-->preferences, in the preferences tab change the output file size to custom from the dropdown menu and enter a value of 4300. Have shrink create an ISO image file and burn with decrypter. Set the write speed to 4x and wait for the burn to complete, if it completes without an I/O error being displayed, then problem solved.

Let me know if this does the trick, good luck.

hi
try shrinking like john123 said & see if that works
if not, then if your burner still burns data files ok i would say your burner is fine, it could be the iso you are trying to burn, re-rip it if you haven't already done so or see if you can get a replacement original disc to try & rip
