first, i wasn't sure which section this should be in, so please forgive me if this isn't it.
what i'm trying to do is make backup copies of my shop's alldata dvds. i've got four of them done already.
i made .iso images of all the dvds with alcohol, but the ones i have left to burn are too large to fit on a 4.7 Gb dvd r.
does anyone know what i can do to fit them on a single dvd r? we use laptops at the shop and they only have a 4Gb hard drives, so i can't store them on there.

u can use alcohol 120 or daemon tools to mount the image. (both these progs create virtual drives, so you can mount images) Once you mount the image, it should be like you actually have a nother DVd drive on your computer, so in "My Computer" you can see the 3rd drive, which is actually a virtual drive.
Now, download DVDShrink, which can be found on this website. Open the program, and "open disc" choose the dvd in the corresponding drive.
Now, it will scan the dvd and give you stats of the dvd. Ignore this, and just hit the "Backup" button.
In the new window, under Select Backup Target, go down to ISO. it will make a new DVD iso that will burn on to a regular DVD5! (DVD+-R, 4.7gb) It will also show you it's save destination. Save it somewhere that you know so you dont lost a multi-gig file. lol
Burn and you're done! Any other questions, e-mail me at master_stud182@hotmail.com

Hold on a second...I failed to read the "alldata" part of your original message. I recant my previous post.
What you need to do is compress the files on the disc. Now, you may have to cut the DVd into different parts in order to do this... Or you can try compressing the original disc and split it up into multiple files.
Sorry about that. :-/

Well, for those discs that are too big too copy, you can just get the original discs and get the contents and maybe split em half n half, so that you'll be able to put em on 2 DVD's. I'm assuming that these DVD's are pure data and aren't like DVD's that are bootable or are installation DVD's?
If they aren't, you can just split up the contents. That's easy, you can copy n paste half of the DVD and burn that, and then do the other half on another DVD.

the installer is a cd. i get what you mean now, i think.
i don't know jack about this stuff. so i don't know if the dvds are bootable.
what you do is pick the year, make, and model of th car you want info for. alldata then tells you which dvd you need to put in to get your info.
anyhow, i'll try to split these up and see how it goes
