hey guys, im new to this backing up on HDD thing, anyways, im already for it, cept i need HD Loader/Advance. My question is this, ive been reading about MC exploits, and if Im reading right, you can basically put things like HD Loader on a MC? as well as other things,(if so, what other apps ex:?). And, does that mean that I could boot up HD Loader w/o having to have a cd in the drive?

thanks! Parker

you can install and launch any .elf file that will fit to your memory card, there are to many to list out but if you've done your homework on the exploits you've ran across many of them already.

the only way to boot from an .elf on the MC without the use of a disk is via a chip with a Dev mode, if you don't have a chip that supports Dev mode then you will have to use a disk.

just what i needed, thanks! guess ill be using a disc then. So then If I owned for ex HD Advance, wouldnt it be pointless to put that on a MC, considering Id still have to use a cd to boot it up? or?

thanks again, Parker

well an exploit only uses the CD/DVD drive for about 10 seconds, the loader disks about one minuet and the exploit is a slight bit faster about the load.

This is the short of it

HDadvance - youll just need the HDadvance CD/DVD

HDloader/Memory card Xploit - Youll need both a psx cd and a memory card with the hdloader installed.

that was more of an extremely short and allot of it left out post.

you can't exploit a slim console, only a fat, an exploit is looked at by the console as a game save for the PSX game that is used as the trigger, the slims PSX boot doesn't look to the memory card prior to boot so you can't trigger it to launch an exploit.

if you have a chip with Dev mode capability or a DMS chip with the Toxic OS you can boot without ever using the CD/DVD drive. the DMS w/ Toxic OS is what I'd recommend you look at getting if you do not have the capability already to boot Dev mode.

that thread is an around the world trip to get to the house next door kinda thing. you only need two things to create an exploit disk and here is the idiot proof version of how to (the expert version is slightly different)

kc

download these:

Independance Compiler: http://console.iscentral.net/request.php?183
HD Loader Patched .ELF http://www.exploitstation.com/files/elfs/HDLFPP.rar

unzip the elf file and save it to where ever you can remember it's loaction.

open up Independance Compiler. follow the below instructions and DO NOT change any settings or click any buttons that your not directed to do or it wont work.

click the 'close this window' button near the bottom right.

click on the 'Title.db' tab

put a PS1 game into your CD drive and select that drive in the title.db windown.

click on the 'get id from cd' and it should pop up in the window above.

if it does click 'add to title.db'

if it does not come up (most of the time it should) then open that drive with your windows explorer and find the SCUS or SLUS file and single click that file, on the left side of windows explorer you should then see information about the file, and it will have the code as SCUS_xxx.xx or SLUS_xxx.xx the _ may be a - but most often not. write this id exactly as it is here into the space in Independance Compiler where it says 'Enter ID Here', then click add.

now select the 'Files' tab. and click on 'browse for file' and select the hddlfpp.elf file (where ever you put it at when you unzipped it) then click Add.

now click the 'Creat Exploit' tab,

click 'creat exploit' button at the bottom.

wait till it's done, it will say the exploit has been completed and the file is located at C:\iscentral\

open your burn software and burn that bin/cue file to a CD

make sure your memory card is in the first slot of the PS2 (the left port or bottom port, depending on the orentation you have your PS2 sitting)

use your chip or swap magic to boot the CD-R disk you just burnt as if it were a PS2 game, you should see the PS2 splash screen then the screen will go black and then text pops up saying 'installing exploit' then copying file 'XXXXXXX'

leave it alone till it says 'complete'

eject the exploit disk.

if your ps1 game is an original, put it in and boot.

if your ps1 game is a backup boot with your chip in PSX mode.

when you try to boot the ps1 game the exploit will trigger (the only disk that will trigger this is the one you used when you made the title.db above)

the screen will come up to 'press select to configuer'

press select

select the location named 'default' and press O (it's the very top selection)

you should then get a browser type screen.

scroll down to mc0:\ and press O

scroll down to BSDATA-SYSTEM\ and press O

scroll down to the hdlfpp.elf and press O you'll now pop back to the configuration screen.

scroll down to TIMEOUT and press X to take that number to 0

scroll down to OK and press 0

now your all set and configuered to exploit from the mc any time that ps1 disk is booted.

hit reset with the PS1 disk still in the console and you'll boot HD Loader directly.

enjoy.

Ok, I have a matrix infinity in ps2. What are the exact steps to getting hd advance elf files to memory card. Do I just put in hd advance disc in tray and open up dev mode and transfer files like that??? Sorry for such a newb question, but i've been trying to figure this out for awhile.!!!!
