I am using DVDFab to decrypt and then I use Nero Recode for better quality ripping.
Now I have the new Nero 7. The first few movies I backed up with recode went fine. Last night when I opened recode and it analyzed the movie....I put in the disk and it said cannot wirte compilation to this type of disk. Why??
I am using Verbatim discs.
It says to check and make sure i have DVD- and DVD+ checked off or something like that.
ANy suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If by fresh you mean (new) then yes. The spindle is only 1 week old. It was not saying that before with the same discs. It just started yesterday...it even says it when I go to just copy and back up.
Any ideas?????

Are they x4, x8, or x16?
If they are x16 then you probably will have to update your firmware...as presviously mentioned...

A firmware update is always a good idea if one is available, check here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php
Here you state:
"Now I have the new Nero 7. The first few movies I backed up with recode went fine"
I looks like the first few movies that you backed up were ok using nero7 with the verbatim disks, is this correct? I assume you tried burning to additional disks in the stack and are getting the same result, this is to rule out the possibility of getting 2 or 3 bad ones in a row (you never know)?
What version of nero are you using? I know that the latest version of nero 7.0.5.4 is buggy, if you have access to the previous version I would install that one (7.0.1.4b I think) and see what happens.
