ripping dvd with dvd decrypter?

like the subject says, im trying to rip a dvd. Firstly, should I be ripping with my dvd-rom drive or my dvd burner? I have the dvd burner doing it right now at a whopping .7x. Will my dvd-rom drive do it faster?

well i switched it to my dvdrom drive and im still ripping at .7x

(if this helps, my DVD-rom drive is in Location 0(0) and my DVD burner is Location 1(1))

i tried a new dvd and ripping directly to my hd instead of to an external via usb (1.1) and its up at like 3.6x. I was ripping to an external hd cuz i dont have the space on my internal to fit a whole movie. Rite now I'm ripping this movie on my laptop to the external (usb 2.0) at around 4.0x. After its done i'll try ripping another one directly to this HD and see if that makes a difference. I still think it shud be ripping at least 8x direct or not...

youve answered your own question the reason that your rip is so slow is the usb 1.1 if you dont have usb 2.0 on your pc install a expansion card or maybe move a bit of stuff of your pc to external so you can rip directly to your hdd

i've abandoned DVD Decrypter. Nero Recode seems to do the job for me and I can choose which pieces of the DVD i want so I can actually fit it on my computer HD. Speed isn't in terms of X's now tho so I'm not sure how fast its going, it seems to depend on the DVD. I did eurotrip at like 70ish fps and roadtrip is going at like 25fps
