This is why I don't buy Memorex media...

Got an audiobooks distrobution which came on 2 DVD's. I copied them to my hard drive & they had speed fluctuations while reading both discs. Media code is CMC AM1. It's the one with the small silver blocks all over the disc with the speed at the top of the disc.

There is some Ritek F-1 media sold by Memorex but you can't tell what the discs look like unless the package is opened. The Ritak ones have no spots & the 16x speed is at the bottom of the disc. I got a 50 pack of the Ritek ones for Christmas & they all burned fine at 8x. The discs even read back properly. Sill you get a chance of getting CMC media with Memosux do my advice is don't buy it ot request it for a present!

This is why it is recommended to stay away from Memorex, Imation, Kyhpermedia, etc.

Stick with Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony, Fuji, Maxell (made in Japan).

If it says made in Taiwan or China stay away from them, with the exception of the Verbs.

Usually cmags make up about 75% of all memosux media, UGGH!

Their prices are a ripoff too. On sale,they run about $15 a 50 pack. Heck, I'll pick up some sony yuden000-T02 or verbatim MCC-004 this coming sunday at Bestbuy/Office max for the same $15 a 50 pack spindle.

Metal AZO dye or 75% crappy cmag dye for 30 cents each? No question which one I choose!
