Well, I guess it was time for me to change my ways a little bit...Although I will still use my mac and will keep my Afterdawn account as Macburner, i will now be like the rest of the world and use Microsoft Windows XP.

Its not all bad news as my new comp (Dell XPS 600 w/ Intel D Xtreme Edition & Nvidia Geforce 7800, 2gb RAM, etc.) is way faster and more efficent (as it seems to me that windows is much more efficent the OSX, as i quickly found out)

So any way, if you see me posting in the PC forums with mac in my nick, just take me seriously

Edit: Bold Macburner

Matt

Good for you Mac. I was actually thinking about getting a Mac. I've been a PC user forever and I'm ready for something different. Not that I don't love my PC but I've heard some nice things about Macs.

ps nice sig

im not saying macs are bad, just very expensive and have limited software availability. But beside that the os is (graphicly) beautiful. But even the highest mac is mediocre for speed. Plus if you buy an imac/macmini/emac you cant upgrade to another hard disk or dvd drive without using an external drive (which clutters the desk). But besides that their not too bad...

congradulations of getting a PC! You have finally stepped into the world of real computers, not those over priced, under powered, ugly things that can't run 99% of the software out there :)

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

unless your doing video editing.. making music using software like reason or creating high definition graphics on photoshop...

theres no point getting a mac, especially if you want to use it for gaming. youll have a tough time finding any games at all for macs

also if youve been used to using windows all your life the change can be quite confusing as there only 1 button on the mouse :O

i didnt know what to do the first time i looked at my mactop

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
Comp2: AMD Sempron 2400+ OC ~ 2.0GHz (Stable), Asrock K7S41GX, 512MB DDR 333, Onboard Graphics, 40GB Maxtor IDE

set of monitors on the way soon :P
Google is your friend...
WorkComp: LAPTOP, intel celeron D 2.4GHz, 256MB DDR, 20GB hd. NO SCREEN IT WAS SAWN OFF :S (bag of crap)

I do plan on doing some editing. I used a Mac for it in Highschool and had a blast (tho that one button mouse thing really threw me off). I don't game much at all. Mostly download music, download music, download music, repeat.

I don't like the part about not being able to upgrade the hdd's tho. I am a mostly laptop user so external drives have become the norm.

This is all a long, long time off tho. Right now I'm in the market for a good camcorder to make some sic snowboard vids with.

I acually do video editing on the pc in avid xpress pro (quite expencive though...) but it is much faster, the mac bogs down and the pc powers through it.

You can check out some of Stardocks products...they can make a PC look like a Mac.

I do audio editing (Pro Tools and Reason) everyday (I teach audio production) and do occasional video editing (Avix XPress Pro) and I can assure you that PCs are just as stable and as strong and run audio and video editing programs just fine. Ten years ago, yes, macs were more stable and better suited, but windows and PCs have finally caught up. I use macs at school, and PCs at home, and they both work fine, there's just much more you can do with a PC due to the huge amount of software out there for windows.

i have to say mac's are very overplayed for their graphics capabilitys. I think i read somewhere that even pixar used pc's for some work (who knows what they will use now that disney owns them.
