im having trouble trying to burn multiple video files onto 1 dvd. im using winavi, and when i extract 5 files to dvd format, it gives it to me in 2 folders, and just buring 1 folder doesnt fully use up my dvd, but i cant put the two folders in together because they overlap file names. but when i try to change the file names of the files of the second folder, it doesnt work. so any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated thanks.

Convert the AVI separately(it will not take longer than trying to do batch convert). Then open both with Shrink via Re-Author, process and burn with your burning preferred software.

when i convert each file seperately, the folder is dvd_0, and the next one i convert will be the same name...but i cant change that, plus the filenames inside are all the same too. but i will try to shrink them.

Convert one and then rename it.
or, for example, make Folder 1 and Folder 2 on your HDD. When you convert, set destination for the first in Folder 1, so you will have: C:/>Folder 1\DVD_0
When you convert the second, set destination Folder 2, and it will create
C:>Folder 2\DVD_0
When it is done, open Shrink, click Re-author, browse to C:/>Folder 1\DVD_0\Video_Ts and drag Title 1 in the left window
Do the same with Folder 2.
I hope is not too confusing.let me know if you get stuck.

there is an easier way to do this! A great program is ConvertXtoDVD (formerly called DivxtoDVD). you drag and drop your files for conversion or you can ADD to program! then let it do it's work. You can set it to burn after conversion and whaaaaaallllllaaaahhhhhhh a perfect DVD all the time! Usually the conversion will take under an hour for a full movie DVD, unless you have an old computer. But this program is pretty fast and accurate! I loved it when it was DivxtoDVD.... and now it's better. You can get it here: http://www.vso-software.fr/ ..... the free version leaves a logo on the output but you can test it out without burning to disk! If you like it then buy it! Money well spent! I love all of VSO's software and bought a gold membership, which gives me all their software and free updates for life!
So long as the two folders are in seperate areas on your hard drive you should have no trouble converting and burning when you add the files to the program! Different locations make the folders have different names (like two folders are named the same, example: Folder1)Folder1 is located on C:/ and the other Folder1 can be found in C:/Folder/Folder1...... this would automatically make the difference! Just add the files to the program and let the ConvetxtoDVD do the rest!

on one of the guides, it says that i can use mpeg 2 format files and still be able to view them on my dvd player. is that true? or does it have to be those standard audio/video types?

When you run Nero StartSmart, click on applications, and you should see Nero Vison Express, then click on that, and VOILA.
HTH,
Rich
EDIT: It just dawned on me, did you mean that you don't have Nero Vison with version 4? I haven't read the guide, but is version 4 necessary?

I believe you can go to the Nero website and download a trial version that will be fully operable. My suggestion is not to download version 7, several members have had problems with this version, and a couple have had great success.
Good luck.

You can still download a good version of Nero 7:
ftp://ftp2.de.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng.exe
