Well I was copying DVDs for quite a while. there would occasionaly be one bad one that would not work but the majority would be successful. Now however I cannot burn any. I upgraded my dvd43 but am still unsuccessful. I am using dvd43 v. 3.7.0.113 and 1click dvd copy v. 4.1.1.4

DVD 43 is no longer updated you should revert to Any DVD & also try writing at a slower pace (if you havent already) 4x.

All your backups should work if it had a successful burn! Maybe you're not using good media, here is a media guide to help you learn what is good and what is crappy media: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
here is a free program that will identify your manufacturers ID: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
and here is a great thread that will help you learn more of everything you wanted to know about DVDs and burning and settings and guides for everything:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136
save this thread in your Favorites folder.... you'll want to read it again and again! It will help you answer future questions! and welcome to AfterDawn!

TRyed using the new clonedvd2 and it still did not work. I did not know that dvd43 was no longer updated. What did you mean exactly by revert to any dvd? Thanks for the quick help guys. Also, is there some type of method or program which can check blanks to see if anything has been written on them yet? I have thrown away too many blank dvd's in the past month because i thought that they may have been screwed up.
here is the error with clonedvd2:

I believe DVD 43 is still updated, but not as frequently as AnyDVD, and you can download it here, http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
Plus, it has a 21-day free trial.

What is the brand of media that you are using? Some of your problems sound like a media issue.

HTH,

Rich

why don't you update this to the current version 4.2.9.2.? but if you have AnyDVD and CloneDVD then you still shouldn't have a problem!!!!! I hope you read my other reply and it's threads..... really don't know what you are doing wrong! the last time DVD43 was up dated was in December! you should get something else like AnyDVD to replace DVD43. but if you want to get free versions of programs then use DVDFab Decrypter and Shrink! follow these guides: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm
try it and then come back with the results!

not such a great media! try Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell... mostly anything that is MADE IN JAPAN for the more quality discs!

Yes, it doesn't pay to buy specials unless you know what you are buying, only buy the best, like Ihoe mentioned.

Best regards,

return it! here is a media guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
download this program: DVDInfo Pro... it's free.... don't mind the ads-----http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ with this program you can find out what the manufacturers ID is so you can check how good your media is on the list! And, if you keep in mind that the best discs are made in Japan.... just look for that on the lable and you can be sure it's good quality media!

At how much? I had bought a 100 pack of Imation 8x DVD-Rs for $40.00 even though they are CMCs I have had no problems with em. Though I will buy better media & at a cheaper price like the Ritek (one of the top media) for 10$ cheaper online.

@Monce........ CMC mag is hit or miss...... if your burner and player accepts them, fine for now.... but think about this..... will it be fine some time down the road? It's the cheap stuff and if you think of it, it's expensive since most people have to redo their CMC Mag crap! Better off buying the good stuff for a little more and be satisfied that it wont' go bad anytime soon! just my two cents...... and don't give me any change for it, thank you very much. ahahahhahahaha

monce,

The potential of purchasing inferior media, is that you could have problems later on, like problems playing then, freezing, pixelation, they cannot be copied, hestition on playback........the issues with inferior media is unlimited.

I would suggest, while you can is re-burn all of them with excellent media.

Use Quality Media; avoid Memorex-CMC, get the good "stuff": Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Verbatim, Ricoh or other top name products

Best of luck,

Rich
