I'm planning to softmod my Xbox but a friend of mine told me that might ruin my Xbox and i wom't be able to play live any help please!!!!

yes you can softmod it with the new softmod installer deluxe and do the dual boot option which lets you play live and it wont mess up your xbox your friend is wrong as long as you read instructions on what to do and how to do it right......

The only real way to ruin your Xbox through softmodding is by unlocking the HD by accident and leaving it that way (and not know the key to lock it back). If the Xbox BIOS boots up and finds the HD is unlocked it won't run. So, as long as you don't mess with that, and also keep a gamesave exploit on your Xbox HD, you should fix any problem tha's happened to the softmod. So it is fairly secure, provided you take measures to avoid ruination.

Also, if you don't have the save exploit, you can always hotswap as a las resort. Make sure you keep a backup of your EEPROM on our PC and hotswapping won't be necesarry. You'll be able to manipulate the Xbox HD on your PC without the need for hotswapping with it, and you'll really have all bases covered if anything real bad happens. If you have the EEPROM backed up there is nothing that can make your Xbox unusable by your accidental fault. :)
