When ever I try to burn a dvd using Nero it never finishes instead it just stops after appearing as if it was working for a good 20 or 30 minutes & tells me the burn process has failed? This keeps happening no matter what version of Nero I use - Nero Express, Nero Burning Rom, Nero 6, Nero Ultra, etc. This is the error log I got at one of many attempts -

@lulabelle, to be more specific. At the top right hand side of your post you will see a pen and paper icon, click on that and it will take you back to your original posting.
Locate your serial no that I have pointed out, highlight it and delete it, then click save changes at bottom of box and it's done(edited)

Guess what it's still not working!!! i tried to do all that i was instructed to do - i followed the guide to turn the dma on & that seemed to have worked, i tried but was unable to find firmware for my dvd burner so i could update it on any of the links - even the website www.microadvantage.net was closed - said i had to have permission to open it. i set it to burn at maximum speed which for my burner would be 4x but as you see in the log below it went right back to 1x!!!! so could someone tell please why i still can't burn dvds!!!!!! i'm soooooo frustrated with this!!!!! one other thing why do i have 2 serial #s instead of one???

you STILL have Roxio installed, go back through the thread and you will see you were told to UNINSTALL it.

Dont worry about the 2 serial no's, it's no problem

thought i had taken out roxio weeks ago because a friend told me to do so but this time i used the zapper & its gone for good.

tried again to update my firmware but couldn't - got this message instead "PROGRAM FILES/IDE1004_0251_MCU.EXE. is not a valid win32 application. also keep being warned that downloading firmware could do damage to my drivers so i don't know if i want to risk it.

OK lets forget about the firmware issue, you have to be careful with that. Now that you have uninstalled Roxio, give it another try. If it fails again, get back to us, Good luck.

There error you get usually means it's a corrupt file. Try and download again.
If your burner's max speed is 4x and you haven't updated the firmware burning 8x or higher media can cause it problems - it seems your burner is having a hard time writing the lead out- the last peice. The firmware teaches it read/write strategies so it's best to keep it up to date.

If you can't get a good download of 0251 then 0151 it is! That will at least help your drive with the new media and to your drive 8x probably is. Did you try and redownload it?
Yes - firmware update is a 'use at your own risk' type of thing but if you do everything correctly you should be fine. Really not that hard or long of a process.
Make sure you have no other programs running, no disc in drive and don't power off while flashing. Now just open the .exe you downloaded - make sure the right drive is picked in the drop down and click the option run, upgrade, start something along those lines. This will flash you drive - usually doesn't take long. When finished (it will usually tell you) reboot and you should be back in business!!
