Hey guys,

I have a friend who would like to convert some video files for web distrbution. I guess some of them are dvd files, I was wondering what would be the best format for everyone on the web to view them (is there a standard people convert to for web design?) and what tools (software) would you recommend for ripping and converting (preferably free)?
