This is also available with AnyDVD, a free21 day trial from slysoft. This is an excellent prog and also removes any copyprotection. Works extremely well with most progs especially CloneDVD2

Clone does not copy DVDs that are region-protected.
There are two types of problem:
1) you want to read DVD of any region on your drive. For that, you need a software like AnyDVD (www.slysoft.com) or Region-free (DVDIdle.com/dvd-region-free.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/dvd-region-free.htm)

2) you want to burn a DVD and make it region-free.
I think most software, including Nero, give you the option, however, you'll need the softwares above to be able to make the copy.

Throw dvd decrypter and dvdfab decrypter both free rippers that remove the region.
Dowload here:
http://dvdidle.com/free.htm
http://mrbass.org/dvdrip/
The region is removed when ripping with the different programs listed.
But hailsme making region free is different than say taking a region free australian video and trying to play it in the US. There are also 2 formats used - pal and ntsc. US and Canada are NTSC and just about everyone else is PAL. So you'll either need a player that plays both or convert it.

If you have AnyDVD running to break any copyprotection then you can Back up the DVD using either CloneDVD2 or Nero Recode.

Did I mention anywhere that Clone DVD2 COULD copy region protected DVDs

Yes, that's what I use actually.
I wanted to make it clear that AnyDVD does not

, however, as you pointed out, you need a software like AnyDVD to read DVDs from any region on your PC.
AnyDVD does also remove most copy-protection systems.

Maybe we are a little confused here.
AnyDVD DOES remove region codes. Any movie backed up with AnyDVD will be region free.

I see your coming along!!! AnyDVD is the best & easiest - it will remove anything (copy protection, region) currently out there. The only downside is it's not free! (well worth the $ though)

I think we're saying the same thing, only I'm confusing everybody :-)
When I rip a DVD with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD DVD Shrink asks if I want to rip it region free or not and asks me to specify which region is the DVD from.
Is the "after burning" part of Hailsme sentence that I'm trying to clarify ... without success ;p

Without AnyDVD you can't rip most of the DVDs anyway because of copy protection.
