Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered before and I apologize in advance if this should be in the Nero forum. I've been trying to burn Saw 100 different ways and keep running into problems. I use DVD Decrypter to rip it to my harddrive and then Shrink to do the actual burning. Every time, I keep getting this "DVD-Video files reallocation failed" error. I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I've copied 100s of DVD's without a hitch. This problem happened to me on two separate burners on two separate DVD's. I first had a problem with Family Guy Volume Three, Disc 3. Identical issues, though. Anyways, here is the log from the last attempt:

I know my burner's firmware isn't the most current. I wanted to ask around and see if there was a different issue before I tried that. I'm using Verbatim 8x Lightscribe DVD+R media, and it's a brand new BenQ DW1655 burner. Like I said, though, this is the second burner I'm trying. The other is a Memorex 8x external. Is this an issue with Nero's burning engine? I've heard lots of bad things about 7 that are making me regret buying it. I forgot what the option is called, but in my preferences I have it set so that it will do a deep analysis of the disc for better quality. Is this maybe what's causing the issue? Or am I screwing something up when choosing the folder to keep temp files in, possibly? One thing really funny that I noticed - I did a "Full Backup" and not a "Reauthor", and the files in both folders (temp and the ripped folder they don't add up. For example:

C:\SAW\VIDEO_TS\XXX.vob files (created by DVDDecrypter)
C:\SAW\XXX.vob files (presumably created by Shrink)

Now when comparing the two, I notice that the VOB file I'm getting an error in (see the log above) is in the Video_TS folder, but NOT in the SAW folder. I am just taking a guess here, but that seems to be the reason I'm getting the allocation error/file not found error. It's truly not in there. My question is WHY is this happening? I'm going to give this a shot in Nero's Recode and see if I have any better luck. Either that, or I'm going to just do ISO mode. I'm just looking for some insight - this is incredibly frustrating. I don't know if this is important or not, but I do notice on the Encoding process, it takes a good 45 minutes, and that seem unusually long. I used to do DVD's in about 45 start to finish, not just the encoding. Then again, I don't believe I had Deep Analysis checked back then. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't see why you wouldn't want to update your f/w it takes about 5 seconds and a restart.

Also your DMA is off, here is a link to fix it:

You are missing a file and Nero is searching for it. As you stated try it in iso mode or use DVD Fab Decrypter to rip and then process with Shrink. Get it here

@LilMikeyP
Do the suggestions from GlueEater & arniebear. If they doesn't work exchange the disc for a new one. You definitely need to be in dma mode and have updated firmware.
There is nothing special on this disc - shrink by it's lonesome w/ decrypter to burn will handle it.

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions.

Glue: The problem is that DMA is *ON*. I know Nero is reporting otherwise, but it is set to on, on both channels:

Arnie: That's the thing - I'm not missing the file. When I use Shrink by going a Open Files->point to the folder->Backup, it analyzes the files, encodes them and copies them to the temp folder. I chose the default it had picked (C:\SAW) for the temp folder and it copies the files into there. For whatever reason it's not copying that one VOB file. That's why it can't find it. The file is there, but not in the temp directory.

I tried again last nite using the same ripped directory (I didn't rerip the DVD) using Nero Recode and it worked just fine. I'm only running into a problem when I use Shrink. Like I said, the disc is fine, the files are fine, and the files are all there. For whatever reason, doing it with Shrink, it won't copy all of the VOB files over. That's another reason why I wanted to wait on upgrading the firmware because I didn't think it would make a difference. Any other suggestions, gang?

The only thing I can think of was that it was a 0 byte file.

Yea I thought of that too, Arnie, but it's not - it's a 1 gig file :( I'm just going to have to stop using Shrink at this point, because it's just not working.
