Hi! I am trying to backup my dvd and dvdshrink keeps freezing up on me. Any suggestions? I have uninstalled and reinstalled but am still having this problem.

hi this is due to the latest copy protection, you have several options, you can either rip the files to your hard drive with dvd decypter / dvd fab decypter, then run them through vobblanker, then shrink as normal. or run DVD43 in the background whilst you shrink (these are all free programs & you will find some good user guides here at afterdawn)
or you can run AnyDVD in the background whilst you use shrink (this is not free but you will get a 21 day free trial from slysoft.com)

what movie are you trying to back up?

I am trying to backup four brothers and I have the AnyDVD running but it is still freezing up.

i backed up 4 brothers without any problems. make sur you have the latest AnyDVD installed (5.9.4.1) as older versions struggle with newer copy protection

if this still doesnt work then rip the movie to your hard drive with DVD Decrypter or dvd fab decrypter

then run the files that decrypter made through VOBBLANER (vobblanker will remove any bad/dummy files)-

to use vobblanker - select files made decrypter as input file (select the video_ts file),
then select the output folder you want to put the new files
then click process
vobblanker will go to work,

once it has finished open DVD Shrink & select "open files" then find the folder that vobblanker made the files in & shrink in the normal way.
this will do it.

They only have 5.9.1.1 available. This is what I have. Where will I find the updated version. If I can get this to work, I will be purchasing it.

sorry my bad the latest version is 5.9.1.1 (it's getting late in the day LOL)
ANYDVD should work??????

try vobblanker & decrypter if that fails to work then the original disc may be a bad press & you may have to exchange it (if you can).

Defrag your harddisk and and try again. Check whether you have got enough memory in your system and do not do any multi-tasking when backup your dvd. Remember not to run AnyDVD together with DVD43.
