Since this has happened twice in backing up a copy with Sin City, I thought I could use some help and guidance. When I open (authoring) the disc for Sin City, I see that the audio is checked on
AC3 5.1-ch. English
AC3 5.1-ch. French
and the DTS 5.1-ch English is not checked. When I checked only AC3 5.1-ch/ English I get message current dvd size is too big. When I checked only the DTS one, I can back it up; but when I play it back, I get no audio at all; perfect picture though. I have target DVD size set at 4300; the audio language & coding is AC3orLPCM. What do I need to do to re-back it up, and get audio that works and a size that will fit. I back it up with Shrink and burn with Nero.
It's the only backup dvd I have audio difficulties with. Please help.

If you check AC3 5.1-ch. English, set the target to 4300Mb, automatic, Shrink should adjust the size and you should be fine.

hi
sometimes shrink will not compress enough to fit on a disc even with settings of 4300mb so shrink it once then reshrink the files that it made (it will probably compress it about 97%) then it wil fit

Let's say the movie is 7000Mb. you shrink it once to 5500Mb, and then open again and re-author the new files already shrunk, this time make them 4300Mb.

Could it be that your sound setup doesn't support DTS? I've heard that when you select DTS and you can't play somthing like that happens, I'm not really an audio guy so maybe someone else can help you there.

What is the message you are getting? My bar just turns red when I a movie is too big to backup. You could also try running it through Shrink twice.

thanks for the advice. I did I guess run it in DTS so I will try in AC3. Being a real novice, I am not sure what you mean by re-shrinking it twice. Forgive me, but could you explain very simply how to do this step by step. Thanks.

Your just processing the files that shrink created a second time with shrink creating new files, hoping that the second time around the files are small enough the fit onto a single layer disk (DVD-5).

So, when you first used shrink to rip and transcode, it produced files that maybe too large (as indicated by the red bar) to fit onto a single layer disk, what you do is run shrink again and open those files (the initial set) and process them thru shrink again. Shrink will create another set of video files (you will have two sets now, the second set is the one of interest) that hopefully are now small enough to to fit.
