While analyzing and decoding explorer.exe in task manger is using 60-70% of my cpu cycles and dvd shrink only decodes at around 500kbs making very long rip times any ideas why explorer.exe is doing this

How much RAM you got? Is your DMA on? Check it here:

When did you last defrag your drive? How much room do you have in your HD? YOu could also try reinstalling it.

dma is on
defrag at least once a weak
got 80gig on 160gig drive
256 ram
tried reinstall ver 3.2 tried uninstall completly then going back to ver 3.1 no luck

That might be a virus for you. Check this out:

Hope it helps. Do you have an AV program? There are plenty of free clean-up tools out there.

AV scans come up clean so does spyware scans checked location for explorer.exe it is in windows directory I can change priority of DVDShrink.exe to high and explorer.exe to low using task manger this makes it better but still not right can explorer.exe be corrupt

My girlfriend had Norton AV turned on and it slowed hers down a lot, I turned it off and everything was fine. She never used it so I dont know why she never unistalled it. Just a thought
