I have a backed up copy of Family Guy on my hard drive that is 6.4GB. I can't remember how I managed to get it on the hard drive but it can't have been shrunk if it's that size right, must have been a direct copy. So, I go to run it through Shrink to make it the right size for burning and I get the following messages - If I try and analyze it, it says "Analysis of this DVD is not necessary, because either no compression was applied or the compressed parts have already been fully analysed". So I'm confused now because the tool isn't letting me 'shrink' the files. Now I can't proceed there, so then I try and back it up and I get the following message "The current DVD size is too big! If you continue you may not be able to burn the resulting files. Please ensure that Video is set to automatic compression, or try disabling some audio streams. Ok, I've tried all of these things including re-authoring and the files are still way too big. Basically it seems that DVD Shrink can't shrink these files. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

What program did you use to back up the movie? You would have had to use some type of decryption program to have it on your HD. The next thing is to open Shrink and go to "Open Files" and look for where you put your files. Should have created a folder named "Family Guy" with a subfolder "VIDEO_TS" where you put the decrypted files VOB. bup, ifo, etc. Just select the folder where you have "Family Guy". Should see the "full disc backup" and "compression settings" windows populated. Uncheck some items like languages you don't need. Click on "Backup" and a window will open. I like to save as an ISO file and burn from there.
If no encryption then Shrink should have no problem. If it does can try running files through vobBlanker.
Get back as to what happened or did not happen.

rn73, Yes I can see the files through DVD Shrink but when I click backup I get the "The current DVD size is too big! If you continue you may not be able to burn the resulting files. Please ensure that Video is set to automatic compression, or try disabling some audio streams." message, even with languages and anything else disabled. No idea how or what I used to get the files onto the PC, but I can view them with shrink, it just won't shrink them! Would I be correct in saying that if the files total 6.4GB then they aren't compressed and are the same as what is on the DVD? Why isn't DVD Shrink treating these files like any other set of DVD files. Surely if I can watch the film through shrink, it knows waht the files are? Make this easy for me - I have a Video TS folder with 6.4GB of viewable files in it and I want to put it on a normal blank DVD. Normally this works every time - Why is Shrink refusing to do this?

I assume you are trying to doo the whole DVD with menus/extras intact and are not interested in re-authoring. A couple of choices, although 6.4GB is not an unusual # and Shrink should be able to handle it. Try running files through vobBlanker. You can download from Afterdawn at link below. With vobBlanker just create a folder where you want the files to go and select the source file and select "Process". Don't worry about anything and let it do its' thing. Run resulting files through Shrink and see what happens.
Second choice is to run files you have through Shrink in file mode and then run the resulting files again through Shrink into ISO file and burn.
I would try vobBlanker first though. What decryption program are you using? This also could have a lot to do with the problem. Up to recent upgrade with AnyDVD I had to run a few files through vobBlanker.
Alkohol here at AD states he can rip/burn any encrypted DVD using DVDFab Decrypter or other free program and vobBlanker alone without buying AnyDVD or other commercial product. I've experimented and so far haven't proven him wrong. Still like my AnyDVD for ease of use even though had to pay for it.
Get back at me as to what decryption program you are using and if vobBlanker helped.
PS
Go to attached thread where Alkohol adresses how to do the Fog and get some idea of how to use vobBlanker.

Right. I got the Voblanker bit done, seemed to work okay. Then I tried running it through DVD Shrink again and more than halfway through I get this 'Programming error - Exception Occurred' . What now? It won't continue. Same error message keeps coming up.
