PLEASE be sure to read whole thread. I hate getting responses to things I already mentioned.I am not sure if I would be considered new. But since I need help I am obviously not advanced. I downloaded shrink and decrypter and I have backed up several movies. I do not always use decrypter(unless i feel it is totally necessary)because I have nero 6. So I put in DVD that is marked on the back "copy protected" and start shrink. After analyzing i remove any unwanted languages and then click back-up(ensuring I see no red). The process begins and some where along the way i have had multiple things happen, due to the fact I have tried numerous times and numerouse "copy protected" discs. First thing that ever happened was during the back-up process my computer shut off, my first thought was power loss so try again. I did and same thing puter s/o so I ask around and someone mentioned turning off screen saver. I did and same thing puter s/o. Now I am puzzled what can i do next? I see scuba steve tips for shrink and decrypter and i follow them. I put in DVD and click back-up; it analyzes; I select language; it starts and in the process i get an error message something about process failed and something about redundancy check or in that area. So any one have any suggestions? I really appreciate any help on this.

There are two really good ways to get passed the 'new' copy protection, one would be AnyDVD , (you can try it free for 21 days, still might get some errors, or it might be perfect), and two you can run the ripped movie files through VOB Blanker. VOB Blanker has never failed for me...so yeah, try Vlanker first if you don't already have AnyDVD ...

Just what movie are you trying to back up? CRC errors can be caused by scratched or damaged disks, you can try cleaning or return it for another original. Also, Shrink cannot handle certain protection which can cause your computer to shutdown, but overheating can also cause the problem, especially if you are using a laptop.

thanks for the responses. I know it is not overheating because I even removed the case from computer and had a box fan blowing directly into it. I mentioned that I tried several different movies that were protected. I did notice that scratches play a big part on whether it will copy or not. I have pretty much solved it with DVD43 and 1click dvd. If I can prevent the loss of just 2 movies then it paid for itself. Thanks again.
