Hi there, can anyone help iv been trying to solve this problem for 2 months now and im not getting any closer to solving this problem...im having problems with the outcome of my home made dvds i use Nero 7 to transcode my movies to dvd and then burn them on to a blank dvd+r i then watch it and find that the movie has small pauses as its playing??? It?s kind of a stop and start motion, it gets more obvious when it gets to a part where there is a lot of camra movement. Example when the camera movies to the right or left in the movie you start to see small pauses (stop and start motion) or when a person on the movie quickly rushes by. I assumed it was the software i was using Nero 7 so i downgraded and used Nero 6 with no luck, problem was still there..I then changed to roxio 8 suit and that was the same the problem was still there, then 3 weeks later i upgraded my systems motherboard cpu and hard drive (for other reasons) and the problem hadn?t gone away. I continued to search for a solution to stop this start and stop motion i get when making my own dvds, then finally i changed something in the video options in Nero 7
the video mode, giving me an option to change it to pal or ntsc...it had been on pal as the default setting so i changed it to ntsc and previewed the movie (this is just b4 the encoding stage in nero 7, gives u a chance to view what you are encoding to dvd you don?t have to go through the whole encoding process to view this problem) and there was no start or stop motion the movie was like a stream running down a mountain (no stop or start motion) but my dvd players are all PAL and don?t work with NTSC so i cant encode a movie to ntsc if my dvd player is Pal.

Can anyone help me with this problem?? anyone know what the problem mmight be?

Toon Army , I'm taking it you're a Newcastle supporter ;-)

Anyway I live in UK & you definitely should be able to play both PAL & NTSC
Firstly what is the model number of your dvd player(s) and I will check , also if you have a TV newer than 8-10 yrs old then likelyhood is that TV is well capable of NTSC playback aswell.

Can I just clarify , are you referring to home made movies (ie; done w/ Digicam or similar) ... or compressed films from whatever source ?

Anyway get back to us & we'll surely get it sorted mate :-)

About those issues:

Are you viewing those backups on a stand alone player or on the pc?
Quote:
then burn them on to a blank DVD+R
What's the brand name and speed rate of those blank + discs?
How fast did you burn them?

You've tried different programs with the same result,I'm thinking it is media quality related. If they occur on your stand alone players, try viewing one of them with your DVD-RW drive and see how they look. Use the same DVD-RW drive that produced those backups,to play them on your pc.

What speed are you burning at?. I would suggest burning at half the disc speed ie. if DVD is 8x burn at 4x and see if that cures the problem

The movie is a download from torrent its original format plays ok when played on my PC its when I start to encode to dvd that I start seeing problems you can even see the problems in the preview box on Nero 7 b4 encoding

Iv noticed a difference when changing the video mode to NTSC as u don?t see the pauses however you can still see some small pauses in different parts of the movie. all I am looking for is an answer to why 60% of the movies I download and encode onto dvd are not playing right?

My First thought was changing the video mode to NTSC had made a difference but not a big difference just a small one that

It should be possible to encode to dvd and have non of the symptoms im getting on playback?? But what is the cure for this frustrating problem????

Reply Susanc & saugmon

i dont think media or burning speeds is causing the problem/s(i tried the 4x writing and use sony japan dvd+r) ...let me explain in Nero 7 it gives the option to preview the movie b4 encoding, in preview you can see the pauses (stop and start motion) which is great as you don?t have to go through the whole encoding process to see this problem....anyway when i see these problem in preview i don?t encode as the turn out will be the same as the priview. the original format the video is now has no problems playing on my computer its when i want to encode to dvd that i get this problem/s.

iv just tried with another movie and there is a watermark along the bottom of the movie in the preview box on Nero 7 also the the small pauses are showing upall these symptoms are not in the original format of the movie only when i encode it to dvd

(the preview box will display your menues and give u the chance to play back the movie b4 encoding)

You can try to do as the below:

<1> get K-Lite codec Pack (FREE), here http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/
<2> install on your system
<3> after installation completed, tweak, configure the G-Spot with all of Nero Audio and VIDEO files
<4> run your downloaded AVI files through K-lite codec for any audio or codec errors and have it tweak/fix it
<5> now try to convert/transcode your AVI project again with Nero Vision 4.

Good luck!!

remove nero from pc,and run the nero clean tool, also remove roxio, and run the roxio zapper

i personally hate using nero,it takes far too long against the quality it produces, there are far better converters out there, that are quicker and give you less hassle

i take it you are using downloaded torrents,(movies),and trying to convert them to dvd format...

use dvixtodvd (try the free version,if you can get it),and force PAL

see how it goes

you can use g-spot codec information tool to gather more info about the avi/mpeg you have

Toon1Army, have you tried burning your discs with DVD Decrypter and booktyping them to DVD-ROM. They work with almost any standalone DVD player then...

You need to use DVD+R discs for this.

Try it!
