Is it necessary to use vobBlanker after using DVDFab Express?
Recently I've used DVDFab + CloneDVD2....is this ok?

Thanks in advance

Yes, it is necessary to run the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0. VobBlanker is a crap, junk, dummy cells, fake pgcs, fake encrypted sectors cleaner, so it will process and filter out anything that is NOT related to the movie out flawlessly. In addition, VobBlanker can easily "blank" out those 2/3 annoying FBI Warnings, previews/trailers, unwanted specials/commentary, extras, etc.

Keep in mind that even if DVDFAB Decrypter is already a good ripper (possibly one of the best right now) and it successfully ripped the movie to your hard drive, but when you're trying to transcode with Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink, it sometimes come up with errors (i.e. uncompressable, unshrinkable/file is too big, out of memory, invalid data structure, chapters jumping, black screens, etc.), so you'll need to have VobBlanker to process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and filter out any left over junks.

I don't know about you and others, but I can wait 5 - 10 minutes for VobBlanker to process my VIDEO_TS.IFO file. If you have 2 hard drives and set your INPUT to C, OUTPUT to D, click PROCESS, then VobBlanker should take NO MORE THAN 5 minutes.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: make sure you TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or any kind of cracking engines running in the background while you're ripping the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter and when you're "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker. Because if you had AnyDVD, DVD43, or other cracking engines run on the background, then it will fight with DVDFAB Decrypter or VobBlanker and you are likely to see some issues like, unsynchronize VOB, files are too small (1 - 2GB), parts of movie is missing/missing scenes, etc.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

thanks! i just read your guide in your sig.

When I ripped madagascar with DVDFAB, I got the out of memory error with recode.
However I was able to use clonedvd2 to compress it. Do you think that I should do everything over with the method in your sig?

Thanks for all the help,
PMark

Actually using the 2.1.0.0 version of VOB BLANKER that alkohol recommended you don't need DVDFab. I don't doubt it's a good software. I've used it previously. You could try AnyDVD 5.9.1.1 software in the backround which now also will remove corupted VOB files. I have found these two programs to work well together (Though not always), and finally to burn the file to disc made by VOB BLANKER I would recommend using the latest and final version of DVD-Decrypter 5.3.4.0 or Nero RECODE2. I notice that many people don't seem to use VOB BLANKER version 2.1.0.0 "auto" option which allows one to just process your original disc info to a folder instead of having to edit VOB's or any other file.
