@cynn. I use CloneDvd and find it to produce quality backups. Another good program is Nero Recode2. It is very similar to Shrink, but much faster. You would still need to rip the movie before burning. You already have the trial version of AnyDVD and IMHO there is no better ripper . If you don't want to pay for AnyDVD you could use DvdFab Decrypter or DVD43free.
If you want to go through a couple of extra steps, this method is supposed to produce excellent quality backups. It uses an encoder rather than a transcoder. http://www.k-probe.com/backup-movies-DVDDecrypter-PgcEdit-VobBLan...

Bestr of luck and happy burning. Be sure to use good media when making your backups. You will be happy you did. Look around the site and you will find all the info on different blank media.

If I can learn here so can you.
Search first, then ask. Words to live by.

clonedvd 2 is very good software and its your best choice with AnyDVD BETTER than DVD Shrink for sure.

you could try Intervideo DVDCopy 4 also thats great quality but doesnt have any re-aurthoring tools but you can do the movie only ,heres some guides and links

i have tried clone dvd (slysoft) trial, it is very reliable but picture quality, wouldn't you agree 1Click or even DVD 43 is better.
It didn't sound as though you were being neutral.

Yeah, but the naked eye can tell the difference. have you like tried it personally?
Why do you think I mentioned only a 1 to 1 copy would give true reproduction? No matter how well done, something is lost of the original when transcoding or encoding. Encoders are the best way to go though. You can browse around and research that.

As for 1Click and DVD43, I have no hatred for them. I just consider them inferior software and don't need them. I was given a copy of 1Click to evaluate. It didn't rate very well with me, so I deleted it. I still own it, just isn't worth the small space it takes to keep on the PC. DVD43 besides having less function can conflict with some systems, mine included. I don't like having to close my system 32 file each time I boot. How it did it, I'm not sure, but DVD43 was the only thing I had to remove to resolve the problem. Just in case you think it common interference with a number of codecs, I don't think so. Here's a few I have with desktop Icons (I have more) that I currently have loaded on this PC. If there was going to be conflict, you'd see it here. In fact AnyDVD doesn't work with the XCopy and NeXtCopy except as a ripper and then turn it off. Something to be said about knowing the software as well.

The AnyDVD you have is the best software for bypassing copyright protection. DVDFab Decrypter is good as well as being free. I just think AnyDVD has more options and can do the job a bit better (should, it's retail). Most of the transcoders in the image above are good. DVDNextCopy is an evaluation, for some reason it works for me while others are complaining. The only other app that may look out of place is the XCopy, but I never found fault with it. I only needed to turn off batch writing software (Drag to Disc). Nero's InCD causes similar problems for other software (It has to be removed). So, that was nothing new to DVD recording. The XRescue is still good recovery software. So, besides working well, they're still resources for the occasional help threads (if I need to go back and review a control). RF was probably the best 321 offered and without a ripper.

Speaking of 1 click encoders, once set up Rebuilder has a 1 click option. It uses true encoders and gives the best quality backups. The trade off is that it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours for an encode on most PCs. Transcoders like CloneDVD 2 and DVDCopy 4 are much quicker. My preference there is with DVDCopy 4, though the other transcoders I have loaded do a good job as well. If something smells, I usually disappear it pretty quick. Can I tell the difference between using a transcoder and Rebuilder on the big blockbuster movies? You bet.

If interested in the better quality, give Rebuilder a try. With the installer, Rebuilder can be used by beginners. In earlier beta testing, it was something of a chore to set up. Luckily, it's no longer difficult. Everything needed can be picked up at http://www.dvd-rb.com/ and there's a big help section here at AD if you need any help with it. There's a free version and it works well with the free HC Encoder. HC is good, just a bit slower than CCE.

@brobear

Count me in on the neXTCopy complainers. What a doodoo program, that last update screwed up my video. aabbccdd sig picture looked awful and I ended up having to restore way back to get it to run okay. Since that was the only new thing that was added and the vid worked fine before I knew it had to be that. Plus all the program did was give me microsoft errors. Thank gawd it is just evaluation the money they want is too much.

arniebear, aabbccdd
What am I doing wrong guys? LOL Guess I'm not a very good test specimen, my gremlin seems to make things work when they shouldn't. Guess it's trying to make me look like a doofus.

Good to see you back Pete. Sounded like the vacation was nice; but if you're anything like me, it's nice to get back home.

LOL! Saw where someone mentioned "welcome back, Pete" and I thought it was ScubaPete coming back. Scrolled back through the thread to see where he had posted, but realized "Pete" must be Arniebear, since Arniebear was recently on vacation in Bama. Damn, these senior moments are coming around more often and staying longer. Anyway "Pete", hope you enjoyed your time in Bama (I grew up next door in MS).

Thanks for the welcome back all. Feels like forever, must have been all that driving.

@aabbccdd

I am glad Adriana is looking normal again, being two tone was not agreeing with her or me, lol. Glad to see neXTcopy gave someone else a headache.

@brobear

You need to send some of those PC gremlins my way, maybe then I could get the program to work. My puter was fine up until then, must need a little kick to get it going.

@tsquare43

Loved Bama, the food, the scenery, the people, can't wait to go back. Next time I plan on visiting Ole Miss, I hear from my son it is just as great.

Thanks everyone, I will try rebuilder. I went to the site but it seems to hard for me (Im really new to this)Hmmm
BTW, I used Imation media and the ForceField range. Its made in India this range but it's sharper and vocal is clearer compared to Sony. I wonder why Imation is never mentioned here...TY cannot be sold to us (hey only sell it in bulk to factories in SEAsia), so it's the next best thing over here. Sometimes, Verbatim cannot play on some stand alone players...well, just sharing my experience.Bye

I don't know where you're getting your Sony, but what I'm getting is made by Sony in Taiwan and Taiyo Yuden in Japan. Both are excellent quality. Try using DVD Identifier so we know the manufacturers of the media you're talking about. One of the reasons Imation isn't mentioned a lot is that they have different suppliers, and it's difficult to keep up with what a purchase may end up being. Some of the manufacturers supply poor media. If you can get Sony 8X +R made in Japan, you'll most likely get Taiyo Yuden if that's what you're looking for. Fuji 8X +R made in Japan was TY as well. TY makes media for different major brands including Verbatim.

As for media player compatibility, that happens and isn't anything really new. If the players have compatibility problems with Verbatiim, I suspect there's other media they have problems with as well. Usually problems like that are not isolated to one particular media unless it's just plain crap.

I forgot. For the RB all you need to start off is to just install it. If you have ProCoder or CCE, have those installed first. Then all you do is follow the directions as the installation progresses. The app will work well in default, just make sure the encoder you want to use is selected. Just ask in the Rebuilder section when you get it installed if you have problems getting it to work. Using Nero is actually more complicated.

Not true! All they do up there is party, party, party! You should visit a real school, my alma mater University of Southern Mississippi! Actually, I had some really good times at Ole Miss (good buddy went there). However, I was single at that time.

That was my undergrad years, my alma mater was good for partying. Got to grad school, Case Western Reserve University, and it was all downhill.
