i got two computers and on 1 of them i got windows xp h/e and on the other 1 i got h/e aswell but microsoft said that i cant put h/e on two computers so im gonna go buy xp pro edition. Is there a way to install pro edition without getting rid of any of my files?

h/e = home edition

There is. However, I would recommend you do a "clean install". Just back-up all your goodies and install. With a clean install you'll be able to partition and all that goodness. I'm going to school for Network Systems and one of my professors told me that if you ever have the option to clean install always do that. I'm guessing he's right.

What is a clean install? and how do i backup my files? is there a website that shows me how

A "Clean Install" is when you Format your Hard Drive and install.

You back-up your documents by burning them to cd, using an external hard drive, putting them on a flash drive (aka jump drive, pen drive, thumb drive, usb drive). You can also use a file transfer to another computer. Shoot man there is a ton of ways to back up your stuff.

nero is a good tool to backup everything you have on your PC that you want to reload later on a new machine
