Here's my problem I cant get my Comand screen to open I push start run and type in cmd and the following happens

the black box shows up and a funny lettering shows and an error shows up the error reads this

C:\windows\system32\cmd.com
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:053d IP:ffe4 OP:fe ff 1d 09 21 Choose 'close' to terminate the app

Any help with this would be wonderful please help me out. Please

Have you tried rebooting in safe mode with the command prompt option? what happens then?

from a completely shut down system, press the power on button and slowly tap F8 (every 2 seconds or so) this should bring up the boot options menu.
