im looking for a firmware update i already visited: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=23 and the only firmware update i found was for the NEC DVD+RW ND-2100A not the 2100AD does anyone know where i can go to get a firmware update for my dvd drive

There is no difference between the 2100A and the 2100AD. One is bought after market, and one comes with the computer is the nearest I can tell.

Go back to the site you posted, and there is a firmware hack by the dangerous brothers that will convert your drive to the 2500A, which is DL compatable!!!

Alright im kinda new to this and im not exactly sure how to do this its telling me to Make a backup of your current ROM first nec2x00a -sec -mas -out BACKUP.BIN. if you can kinda walk me through this i would really appreciate it thanks.

If you have a true NEC drive the current update is 1.92 and you can get this from NEC site here

also how do i know which one to download there are like 3 ro 4 different things to download and i dont know which one is the right one

NEC ND-2100A
Currently supplied as binaries suitable for flashing in DOS. The packages include original stock firmware, RPC1 with Rip Lock, and Rip Lock only. 103D, 104E, and 1.26.

BETA TDB Windows Flasher. The packages include original stock firmware, RPC1 with Rip Lock, and Rip Lock only. 103D, 104E, and 1.26.

2100A to 2500A, Allows burning of -R media. Supplied as a binary. This is the 2500A 1.06 firmware patched to work on a 2100A, and includes RPC1 and Rip Lock patch. 2100 @ 2500 1.06
Suggest you use one of the newer 2500 or 2510 firmwares.

do i do the 103D, the 104E, the 1.26 or the 2100 @ 2500 1.06? i was figuring that it would be the 2100@ 2500 106 correct me if im wrong. and if any one can i would appreciate it if they would kinda walk me throuh the process of doing this, the instructions im reading are kinda vague to me

If you want to convert to the 2500A, use this one...
