This is an inane post. Nothing that adds to the pursuit of knowledge or helping solve problems. Just bragging. Whoo Hoo, look at me. Almost as bad as SPAM.

Sorry, you think its insane. I have always appreciated other members posting New movies, and what they used to back them up before the date they came out, so that I would have some pre-knowledge of how easy or hard it was going to be to do the back up. Since others have shared this info with me, I have an opportunity now to do the same for them. I'm sorry if you found it offensive or insane.

I think the knowledge that one might get from thispost is, that when the two movies mentioned above come out, you don't have to dink around with three decrypters and a VobBlanker. Old DVD Shrink will do the job. I then know that I can put the dvd in my drive, reauthor main movie and be done...will save some pretious time.
@buffster
For your post to be more informational, what region codes were those DVDs? We know that DVDs released in different regions can have
different encryptions.

Don't worry man, some might be a little gelous because they can't woo the cute girl at their local video store:~)!

Well since I'm a female...trust me I don't woo...any girls at the counter(LOL)...the discs I backed up are all region 1. This site has been extremly informative, especially since all the new protection came out, and things are harder to back up. I always felt lucky to be able to read a thread a week before "my" movie came out knowing if it was going to be easy or if I was going to need some of my tech friend's help. But recently I feel like everytime I post, I'm being attacked! Maybe its not info thats going to help a senior member or someone whose a tech, but a newbie just might appreciate it.

@buffster
Sorry, my bad:~)! I guess to me your nick sounded a little "masculine", but again, assumptions are the mother of many screw-ups! As for the girl at the vidoe store, everybody have their own preferences, would be nothing bad with that ! LOL!
As I said, try not to listen to all the empty replays that you might get in your posts. I came across a few stupid remarks myself. Sometimes people are maybe tired when they post, sometime maybe in a bad mood. But others, I kinda followed them across different threads, and is just their nature to annoy people that actually have something to say.
I only use the free proggys for backing up my DVDs. I can say that with all the free tools available, I can do virtually any DVD that came out so far. But is nice to know that I can use just the light arsenal sometimes, and save time.
I am in region 1 so, thanx for the info!

That's illegal. If the FBI finds out that the video store is putting out new releases early for the public to rent or buy, the store can be slapped with a hefty fine and/or be shut down.

I did not say "insane". I said "inane". Big difference. I did not find your post offensive or insane.

Your intent is laudable. Your brevity is what sparked my remark.

Now, after reading through the rest of the posts, we are getting closer to what I would like to see in a post. Specifications. Disk region, hardware specifications, software used (Version specs also) and media used to make back-up. Media specs would help also as there are so many variables in the whole process.

As for woo-ing the girl at the counter, I'm old enough to be their Grandpa, if not their daddy.

DakotaFan's sig has useful info about what he uses to make back-ups. Let's not forget the legal aspects of what we are discussing.

@ buffster - "Cowgirl Up". Any time you speak, there be people who disagree with you. Hey, look at the President...

I will stand by "most" of my original post. Sans the mis-reading of a word.

Ya'll have a good night now.

TC

LOL! I think now after reading through the rest of the post, you kinda realized that the post wasn't really "inane" and in fact maybe you were a little hasty in your comment!

"Just backed up "Walk the Line" and "Yours, Mine & Ours" DvdShrink & Nero".

You wanted to know about the software, you have it right there, DVD Shrink and Nero! And since I had a really hard time to find an older version of Shrink, is safe to assume that she used the latest, v3.2.0.15(also I can not think of any "sane" reason to use anything older). And if she did, you should have no problem using the latest version! As for Nero, Nero has NOTHING to do with the decryption process,so it doesn't matter what version was, nor has blank media anything to do with the easiness of bypassing the encryption! And hardware, I think the difference made is in speed, and not really in bypassing the copy protection.
If you wanted to know the region code, could've just asked, like others did! I think that was the whole point of the original post, to let people know that those two movies had no special encryption, since DVD Shrink was able to rip them by itself!

The most that will happen is the distributor will delay shipping of the new titles until the day they are due out. I know from experience, it happened to me.

LOL!! I can't tell you on how many occasions my mouth was faster than my brain, and later , what I thought it would be something intelligent, it turned out to be nothing more than an "inane" burp!
In Buik's Case the fingers were a little too fast!
In all this occasions when I "inanely" burped, I also realized how hard it was for me to admit that I brain-farted :~)! This is one of the hardest things for me to do!
Here on AD, being under the veil of anonymity, everytime I do screw up and have to apologise, is kinda therapeutic!
Anyway, this is been a lot of fun!

I don't know about Cajun( I would have to ask my mother:~)!), and I honestly had to look up "crawfishing"(I've been speaking english only for the last 6 years)! Never been in a Mardi Gras, I hope soon when I visit my close friends in Alabama!
Cheers!

I think you might be a little bit overly picky. If one was as picky as you, one might think you are Illiterate. Maybe you did not understand where she said how she did it . "Shrink and Nero". I for one did not need much more info then that at this stage in the game. Shrink has not been updated in about a year. If you need more, there are plenty of guides on the net for Shrink - thats DVD Shrink in case you did not know. You like "I" words, how are these for perhaps a characterization of your post -- inconsiderate, inappropriate and inept???

@buffster
Keep up the good work! I appreciated your intel.

I also am old enuf to be their grandfather. I am sure they appreciated your wise sage advise on the proper way to post.

My Dad owned Buicks, but he was a much more genteel man.

After rereading your post, and esp your reply, i am struck by what i perceive to be a haughty arrogant tone. "Stand by your post", even when shown to be way off base. And of course the lecture on what is appropriate by your strict standards. Hmmmm!

So, I thought I'd help you out with more words that start with "INA" (thank you so much for educating us on the difference between inane and insane -- how insightful!)

How about the following words:

inadvisable
inappropriate
inappreciative
inaccurate
inadvisable

Y'all have a good day now, too.
Y'all come back now, ya hear.
