Backing up Flight Plan

Has anyone attempted to back up Flight Plan yet? I was absolutely amazed. Normally, most movies I backup (I really do not purchase many DVDs during a normal month, so do not get a chance to backup too many either) only have the normal CSS encryption used for protection. I have never had a movie with the Rip guard protection yet.
When I purchased Flight Plan, I was just as excited to put it in and see what types of protection was on the disc as I was to watch it again (saw it at the theater). I was expecting a movie of this caliber to have an additional protection scheme, but I was not expecting this. I think they threw every protection scheme known to man on this DVD and was hoping no one had Any DVD and Clone DVD. I am backing it up as I write this, so I am only assuming this will turn out okay, but I have no reasons to believe any differently.

Yes, I used AnyDVD & CloneDVD to back this one up when it first hit the Store & I bought it. Missed it in the theatre. In fact, I used 3 versions back of AnyDVD and the previous version of CloneDVD 2. It was very easy to back up & the back up played back Perfect too. Slysoft's products make a long & hard job look like "Child's Play" compared to "some" of the FREE tools available.
Note:Use High Grade Media!

Yeah I've heard CloneDVD 2, and AnyDVD are the 'best', but the free progs work just as good. I used DVDFab Decrypter, Vob Blanker, and DVD Shrink takes a little more time, but it's FREE. So if you don't have, or don't want to purchase CloneDVD 2, and AnyDVD, you can always use blanker...

You'll find that "some" of the Newer Encrypted movies just can't be backed up with the Free tools. Not all, but some, and the encryption just gets harder to break as time goes on. I don't doubt that the Free tools are OK. I used to use them myself. But, After "RE2", Sony/Columbia and a Lot of others are putting some Heavy Duty encryptions on these newer releases. Besides, as the Old Saying goes "To Each, His Own". Personally, I got tired of all the "trial & error", and when I got AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2. Life became good in the backing up world. Yeppers, if you always want to stay under the hood so to say use the free stuff, now if you want to cruising down the road AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2 will let you keep your eyes on the road.

I done this one a couple nights ago and used DVDFabDecrypter and VoBBlanker and then shrink and it worked fine. Played perfect as
well.

Well, I am only familiar with DVD Shrink, but why go through three different programs when one will do? I say one, because AnyDVD runs in the background and you never have to worry with it again and the only thing left to open up is CloneDVD2 from that point on.
When one uses 3 different "free" programs to do the job of one really good paid program you are "paying with time, instead of money" if you think that is a good trade off it is up to you. However, consider this. Pay one time for CloneDVD2 and Anydvd2 or continue paying with your time, over and over and over using three different free programs each and every time you backup a DVD.
The free programs definitely are NOT free in that respect and I would rather just put my DVD in the computer, and 30 minutes have a backup instead of pulling up one program to do this, another to do that, and another one to burn the backup. Seems to me no comparison.

I found using PgcEdit to be the easiest. Simply run it (with the plugin installed to get rid of Arc), it loads DVD Decrypter, does its thing, runs DVD Shrink when that's done, which then runs DVD Decrypter again to do its thing and there we go - Flightplan ripped, stripped, and backed up!
Total time, 25 mins.
Total time I paid attention to it: 2 mins.
Dollars paid: $0
Ripped DVD: Priceless ;)
PS Tried DVDFab - stupid thing kicked me into PIO mode! Did the same thing for Sky High... bah!

Way to go JMJimmy and after approx. 23 minutes still have my $39.99 in my pocket. AnyDVD is a great program but when and if I need it then I will get it.....

i used DVDFab Decrypter for Flightplan (2.9.7.3 i think it was, though i may have had 2.9.7.2 installed when i did this movie). Either way i then used just DVD Shrink as per normal.
