Hello the DVD Shrink master. I tried to rip a DVD disk and received an error message (DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue."failed to read file vts_01_04.vob" The parameter is incorrect).

Would some of you grand master on DVD Shrink please help me tackle this problem. The movie was a chinese kungfu movie that I'd like to make a copy of. Thank you.

Try this rip with dvdfab decrypter than open and process the files as usual thru shrink.
Here's a link for fab decrypter:

Yeah use DVDfab Decrypter, and if you still get problems with it run it through VOB Blanker...

I used FAB decryter and then used DVD Shrink to open the VOB file but still encountered the same error. VOBblanker didn't work either.

I then tried to rip the movie with the DVD decryptor also but when DVD decryptor open the vts_01_4.VOB halfway it reported invalid data file. I used the DVD Express and it Ripped just fine. However, I hate the DVD backup from DVD Express appear when you first insert the movie disk. You guy have Any other suggestion ? . Thank you.

Maybe your original disc is dirty, scratched, etc. Did you had any kind of cracking engines (i.e. AnyDVD, DVD43, etc.) running in the background while you're ripping the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter and or while you're "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker at all?

What's the movie name/title by chance if you don't mind? It's either you're doing something wrong with VobBlanker, therefore it's giving you errors. A Chinese Kung Fu movie shouldn't be hard to rip via DVDFAB Decrypter and or DVD Decrypter. Even with the latest "protections" like dummy cells, fake pgcs or encrypted sectors of "invalid data structure" from RipGuard and ARccOS, VobBlanker can "process" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file smoothly without any issues. I've been using VobBlanker for roughly 5 months and I've never seen/experienced any movies/dvds that VobBlanker can not process properly. VobBlanker has never let me down, regardless of what kind of movies/dvds (new released or old). Once the VIDEO_TS file has ripped into the hard drive, then the rest is easy as sippin' on some Vodka.

**NOTE: make sure under "Action", all of the VTS stated as PROCESS, if any of them is SKIP, then you'll need to click on "PROC.ALL" on the right for VobBlanker to PROCESS all of them VTS. Unless you're an advanced VobBlanker user and want to "cut or blank" out other unnecessary/unwanted junks/craps, pgcs/ttn, cells, etc. The easiest method is to INPUT, OUTPUT and PROCESS, that's all.

Once you've set your:
(1) "INPUT folder" (this is the VIDEO_TS file/folder that you've ripped earlier from DVDFAB Decrypter)

(2) "OUTPUT folder" (this is your new created folder name, example: Kung Fu Movie and a VIDEO_TS sub-folder inside Kung Fu Movie, so it should read like this: C:\Kung Fu Movie\VIDEO_TS on VobBlanker's OUTPUT folder)

(3) just click "PROCESS". Sit tight and wait 5 - 10 minutes until VobBlanker is done.

(4) once VobBlanker is completed, open up DVD Shrink

(5) click on Open Files and locate your C:\Kung Fu Movie\VIDEO_TS file and DVD Shrink should automatically load the movie and starts to do a quick Analysis, then continue on with your DVD Shrink process (i.e. take out any unwanted audio, subpicture/subtitles, extras or director's commentary) and just backup/transcode as usual.

Good luck!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Yeah it could be that the disc is in bad shape, if not it's probably just a bad press...
