Members of the press get things early. My brother used to get VHS copies when he was still doing that. I currently get books before official releases.

Maybe this guy writes for a paper.

Retail/discount chains get the new releases 3-5 days early and keep them in the storeroom until their release dates...

Don't be too supprised when a moderator boots you off the sight for that response.

JOHNSTARR,
I do not think he is pirating Software as he works at a video store and they let the employees view the movies in advance free of charge or at least that what the local BB does here. He is doing nothing different than holymonk. LOL

Definately not holymonk, he stated that he used DVD Decrypter and Recode only for the backup. Holymonk always has AnyDVD running because he doesn't have time to make an accurate summation. LOL

And your explanation is supposed to be "legal" ?? Video stores allowing their employees to *view* a movie before it's release date is no big deal. The employees taking them home and copying them is another matter altogether.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I dunno how that is supposed to be a justification.

If this were holymonk, which it's not, I think it would be perfectly legal because he owns the video store, so in essence he owns the video's right...or is that just my dumb redneck way of thinking. LOL

I was under the impression that video stores actually purchased videos in a different "way" than us home consumers do. I guess it's more the agreement that the videos they buy are for rental purposes only, not purchase.

hallway and Mr_Pink ,
If you took a poll here on AD( and if it were truthful) and asked the people are they really buying the DVD's or are they going to BB or NetFlix renting it and burning it the odds are probably 85% are renting the DVD's. AD if I am not mistaken over 1 year ago changed the rules on rented DVD's and now allows that method as OK. At Last count I personally own over 500 DVD's that I have purchased. Is what he is doing correct and my answer is NO, but it is allowed. Technically if you buy the DVD you can not make a copy of it as that is copyright infringement but I do not see the FBI beating the door down on any of our homes. So if a storeowner or an employee gets the info on a movie in advance who is it hurting if he reports no problems w/ the movie or you have to use PgcEdit w/ Plug-in to copy it

I agree with ya. But I also couldn't care less if everyone illegally copies movies, I'm just stating that what was stated earlier was just a sugar-coated way of describing pirated material.
