I am new to burning but have been successful with every burn I have attempted so far but this one has me stumped

I have an iso image and also a audio_ts and video_ts folder containing the relevent files which I have burnt onto a DVD but I can't get my standalone DVD player to play the disc

I used DVD decrypter to burn the disc.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks

Missie

You must have burnt the iso file then, because Decrypter will not do VOB files. What movie did you burn and what speed and media? Just what process did you use. Did you use DVD Shrink?

Did you use DVD+R Discs? Or DVD-R?

some Dvd Players don't like DVD+R format discs.. You can set the booktype to DVD-ROM on DVD+R's to get around this

Rip the movie to your HDD using DVDFab Decrypter, process the resulting files with VobBlanker, edit and transcode with DVD Shrink and finally burn with DVD Decrypter or Imgburn. All free programs and easy to use. DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are no longer being updated to keep up with newer encryptions.

DVDFab Decrypter: http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
VobBlanker: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm

It sounds like, as arniebear eluded to, that you are ripping first with DVD Decrypter in file mode (creates VIDEO_TS folder) and transcoding with DVD Shrink (creates ISO image). DVDFab works just like DVD Decrypter in file mode only. Once ripped to HDD open VobBlanker and supply it with a source (your VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab) and a target (create a new folder and rename it for easy retrieval) and click process. That's it, continue on with DVD Shrink as usual.

In the past I have had the exact same problem with DVD Decypter. I backed up about 10 or 15 movies, using Decypter as my burn engine, and I didn't check the results untill I had completed them all. Out of the bunch, there were 3 or 4 discs that would not work. So I just repeated the burn process using Nero and it was fine.

I used to use only Nero for burning, and then I tried DVD Decrypter for something different. Since that happened I always depend on Nero. I have never looked into why this happened, I just stopped using decypter for burning. Other wise, I love DVD Decypter.

Does this help?

Hiya

Funny you should say that JBurden, I have just burnt the disc successfully using Nero and then come on here to say that I have solved the problem and I see your post!

Thanks to everyone who responded, tmfloria, I have a DVD-R only burner in my computer and my standalone DVD player is also a recorder which also only burns to DVD-R so I don't think it was a compatibility issue. Which brings me round to a whole new subject. I am get my new LG 4167BA tomorrow!! Waheeyyy!
