hey all,
i'm in need of a preverbial hand to find the cheapest place to buy DVD-R media preferably online. I see loads of online stores on this site while reading thru but all the ones ive seen are in the US, and i dont really fancy importing dvd's from the US when i know there must be places over here selling at fairly cheap prices.
i started out using some verbatim dics which were top notch - never had a problem with them at all.. but couldn't get hold of them again so went to WHsmiths or something similar and got so TDK discs which i believed to be of a decent standard also.. my 3 or 4 ps2 games ive copied onto the TDK's however freeze and skip quite regularly which is a pain in the rectum.
i'm looking to get hold of some more verbatim dvd-r's but looking for a sole cheap online retailer that sells at a good price!
where do you british guys buy your dvd/cd +- media??

indeed, svp are awesome, as are the 'Verbatim TY' discs, though they've been out of stock, am gonna go check now to see if they're back in stock..
edt- still out of stock - http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?pg=4

cheers for the responses fellas, looking at their prices tho and comparing them with others, cd-rmedia.co.uk (only other half decent looking site) seems to be cheaper? you not found this the case?
i'm looking at getting some more Verbatim:
cd-rmedia - http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk/cgi-bin2/details.pl?id=vdvdr8sp
24p inc vat a disc, £12 for 50
SVP - http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=140
£16.49 inc vat for 50
yeh the svp offer includes printable surfaces but i'm not fussy abt that, they're the cheapest DVD-R verbatims SVP sell..
what's the catch with cd-rmedia!?

You are not comparing like with like. The ones on SVP are Mitsubishi dics (code: MCC 03RG20) - much better than the Riteks (code: RITEKG05) from the other site.

Hi creaky.been away for a while....reburning lots of verbatims (specially the indian ones)Only 900 to go!!Cant really get me head round the problem..every disc i burn i run through dvdinfo pro for speed, and theyre fine.Come 3 months later bugger*d!!!Id say about 40% are scrap so im doing the whole lot again with pukka tys (2% fail rate due to dye imperfections).Wont use other brands even with a ty dye.Stopped using Nero too. This might help, but clone dvd2 seem to give me a better burn.Bieng on the paranoid side i used to use the Nero registry checker befor every burn.Almost every time it showed 'errors' in the registry. What flippin errors i have no idea.Tried Nero 7..yuk.Far too much bollo*ks attached to it.Seems to be a jack of all trades now.hey ho.love the Nero nator by the way!!

@pieman - yer, you and your Indian Verbs!. i've got 2 tubs of MIT Verbs left and i just cannot get them to burn past the lead-in stage on either of my LG drives so i've just left the tubs gathering dust for now. got far too many tubs of Verb TY from svp to keep me busy anyhow (hope they're gonna get more in stock, i'll buy a load more just to make sure i got enough!)

hi :)
yep, got to go with creaky. SVP every time, a little dearer than the rest, but you get what you ask for
pieman hi :)
i'm not a great fan of nero, every time i have it says burn failed, and each time there is nothing wrong with the burn at all.
have always (99% of the time) used decrypter to burn with, no problems ever

nope, they've still none in stock! either i've missed them and creaky has been ultra quick and already bought them out or they still don't have any in as yet!
creaky, or even you other guys too if you're holding out for some, how come's you dont go for the:
'Taiyo Yuden (8x) Unbranded DVD-R' @ £29.99?
from what i've read on various threads on here, i got the impression the Taiyo Yuden's were meant to be a superior brand anyways?

indeed, and i've bought 'vanilla' TY before, just a 100 tub from svp before. only 2 reasons for me really (to not buy more 'normal' TY) - i don't like the shiny top surface, they get grubby like hell, for no reason, and the cost too (the prices don't stay the same for normal TY). The Verb TY have the awesome matte finish on top, can't beat them. just checked, svp still haven't got any in, glad i bought so many back when i did. i'll just keep checking every couple days i guess.
edt- and don't forget the 'Verb TY' are real TY anyway

I take it there is no where else to get the Verb TY x8 DVD-R TYG02 from in the UK?
They are on Ebay but don't fancy taking my chances.
Should really think of something to put here.

i only use svp so i couldn't tell you. but you're right, don't let your money near discs off eBay. ESPECIALLY a seller with huge feedback called silver-tek or something like that (though they may only sell their FAKE TY in the US)
