I got an ASUS DRW-1608P2 dvd burner. I have dvd shrink downloaded to break protection laws and stuff, but now that my trial verison is over, when i go to copy a dvd using shrink, it says that i will need to set my dvd drive region or something along those lines. Then it says i can only set it 5 more times. I didn't want to do it until i asked someone who knew about it, afraid i would fool it up...So what do i do?
I was also wondering, it says its a double layer drive, what does that mean or do or what??? lol.
@dmcgrath
DVD Shrink is freeware - there is no trial period. Did you have something else installed like AnyDVD?
Set your drive to what region you are in - here are the region codes:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
To make it region free you'll need to find the 'region free' firmware for this drive - if there is one - don't know.
Most of the progs used to back up movies though also remove the region code.
@dmcgrath
Not unless your put another region disc in.
Shrink is a good prog but it can't handle the latest copy protections. You may want to buy AnyDVD. I think they're still offering $5 off for aD members. It will hanlde anything out there.
A free one similar to AnyDVD is DVD43 - okay but not updated as often. Here's a link if interested:
