I tried to rip and compress a dvd and during the backup stage to hard disk folder,it gave me the following error message:"out of memory.Not enough storage is available to process this command."
So,I ripped the DVD with DVDFabdecrypter and tried to open it with dvdshrink and dvdshrink showed me a partial red bar(uncompressable).So I processed it with vobBlanker & fixVts and when I openned it with dvd shrink it still showed me a partial (but less) red bar.
Is there something else I can do or a solution to the original problem("out of memory...")?
thanks!

use AnyDVD & clonedvd2 from slysoft.com they are 21 day free trials but will solve this problem. they are worth the money if you have to buy them.

or another alternative is to shrink the files twice - compress with shrink once then compress the files created by shrink again

@elrad,

How much RAM do you have in your system?

That's a big problem. The recommended ammount of RAM is 512 MB and that is just the recommended ammount. Most people here have a lot more. You'll definately need to get more memory. That's why you're getting the "Out of memory. Not enough storage is available to process this command." error.
Another question I'd like to ask is how much hard drive space do you have? How many gigs is your HD?

Exactly why I asked. Most DVD drives will us up 128mb to 256mb of ram. Window OS will use up to 128mb of ram as well so you are operating with barely enough to run the system, let alone burn backups. I recommend a ram upgrade to a minimum of 512mb with 1gb preferred. This should aleviate your problems.

Cheers.

1GB of RAM is what a lot of people seem to use. I have 768MB of RAM and I do just fine with what I do. elrad, I would get at least a 512MB memory stick. You can get one from Newegg.com. They're pretty reputable and fairly priced. Just make sure you check the manual that came with your computer to make sure you get the right type of memory. It will be one of the following:
168-Pin SDRAM
184-Pin DDR SDRAM
184-Pin RDRAM (16bit)
240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
I have a Dell PC and it uses 184-Pin DDR SDRAM memory.
