I asked this in an earlier forum, but did not get a response...If i have a dvd that is skipping and studdering..can I use that same dvd in my pc (it plays there ok) and reburn at a slower speed as I have discoverd that has been my main problem. That and multi-tasking...but i have learned...will I get a good back-up.

You possible could - but your have to rip it again. If the disc may be a problem to rerip - use DVD Decrypter - the best imo for these type of discs.
The playback problem on your player could also be the media your using.
What media are your using? Another thing your may want to check - make sure your drives firmware is up to date - one thing this does is help it w/ read and write strategies on media.

media is Verbaitum's...some i burned at 8X but now only use 4x. Like I said before..i really think most of the problems are from too fast a burn and multitasking......which i no longer do. I use AnyDVD and Clone for the most part, but have dvdfab, shrink, and decrypter if needed. Thank you....i have adjusted my settings as recomended....if I want to check the burn speed of past dvd's which tool and how do i do that. It might help in me deciding if i want to re-burn or not. thanks again

I don't know of a program that will give you the speed the disc was burned at. The speed can fluxuate during burning.
The best thing to do would be to scan the disc to get a quality score. If you have Nero use CD-DVD Speed in Nero ToolKit or DVDInfo Pro. Not all drives support this feature though.
Here's a link for DVDInfo Pro if needed:

Your using good media so that's always a major + !!

gramsie,
If the original has no read errors then you can use DVDDecrypter to burn it in iso mode. But if there are errors then you will have to re-rip the original. There is no program that will tell you the burn speed you used to burn a DVD. Use what binkie7 recommended. If I remember correctly on the PI Errors(disc quality scan) if it is above 280 total then you need to trash the disk and try again w/ the original
